What does a perfect day look like to you?

Enough sleep, good food, good friends, and time spent outside in good weather.

What's one thing you think everyone should do every day?

Something nice for someone else, especially strangers.

You can only hear one song for the rest of your life. Bohemian Rhapsody or Ring of Fire?

I don't know if I would choose either to be the only song I could listen to for life, but I fall on the side of Bohemian Rhapsody. If only because singing along forces me to work on my vocal range.

What do you have planned for this weekend?

TEXAS RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL!
Join us for Oktoberfest! You just might take tea with Peter Pan, see the Doctor defeat sword master Robin Hood with a spoon, watch Henry VIII take on Queen Yana of the Barbarian Horde, check out knights jousting to the death... you know the usual everyday things wrong with time.

Do you believe in karma?

Indirectly. I've been known to tell people who have escaped near disaster that they've "cashed in their karma points."
In the longer term, I believe you get out of life what you put in and that people who are mean to others suffer from a secret pain. If that's not karma, I'm not sure what is.

Who do you think asked your last anonymous question?

Sadly, I don't get enough questions to remember what the last anonymous one was.

What was your favorite childhood TV show?

My favorite tv show in childhood is still my favorite show today and you shouldn't have to dig through these questions too deep to figure out what it is.

What's your morning routine?

Wake up, fall out of bed, drag a comb across my head. Find my way downstairs and drink a cup, and looking up, I'll notice I'm late. Find my coat and grab my hat. Make the bus in seconds flat. Find my way upstairs and have a smoke, and somebody'll speak and I go into a dream.

If you could teleport, where would you go?

The TARDIS console room set on a studio day. And soon after that, I would teleport out of the BBC's security office.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?

Unfortunately, neither. It’s not unusual for me to fall asleep watching TV and it’s difficult to pry me out of bed unless I have an early morning acting gig.

How do you feel about Christina Hoff Summers, the feminist who was given death threats by other feminists?

No one should receive death threats because of their point of view. From my minimal understanding of the subject, Summers has made some valid points. Probably the way forward with feminism is somewhere in between her point of view and what she calls "gender feminism."
Speaking from my own point of view, everyone should receive the same pay for the same job, have equal opportunities for work and education, and receive the same benefits, all regardless of gender. To that end, I use the term actor as gender nonspecific whenever possible.
Acting is an extremely difficult profession, but as hard as it is for men, it's clearly even more difficult for women. There's always an unequal number of roles, and of the roles available, the person casting almost always looks for a predictable physical type and age range. It's absolutely unfair, especially if you're not only female but a minority as well. I don't have any kind instant solution for that other than to demand content from providers that better represents humanity. We all age, very few of us are supermodels, and there's roughly the same number of women as men on our planet.

What song brings back memories from your childhood?

I was always the nerdy kid who collected film and tv music instead of the top 40, so I don't know if there's really a satisfactory answer to this. I suppose the original STAR TREK theme sometimes makes me recall time spent with grandparents I miss. Any DOCTOR WHO music prior to 1996 makes me recall sleepovers with middle school friends.

Where do you get your best ideas?

Usually when doing a repetitive task I don't need to think about. The critical brain goes on break and isn't around to shoot down subconscious ideas. When writing: showering, vacuuming, and mowing the lawn are valuable times.

What's your favorite drink?

I love the Moscow Mule, but I need to find an alternative because very few bars/pubs stock ginger beer. (Considering it's my birthday, I'll probably have one tonight.)

If you had to dye your hair and keep the color for the next five years, what color would you choose?

I've been joking recently about beating the passage of time at its own cruel game and going prematurely silver. Or I could go back to the shade of brown it was before it started to turn.
I suppose the answer to this question would be an indication of how well I'm handling turning 40 tomorrow, but I'm honestly undecided.

What makes you nervous?

Speaking to almost anyone on the phone. I can probably count on one hand the number of people I will pick up the phone to call. Even those people I will text and e-mail first. The stupidest career move in my life was working in a call center for six months. It was absolutely the wrong job for me.

What does it mean when a bird poops on you?

It means you should be envious of the bird. Imagine how freeing it must feel to soar naked through the sky, and what a rush of power it is suddenly target anyone you like with a bomb of feces!
Birds are jerks, but I've got to respect them.

Dear Ms. Grande:
My doubts as to your identity aside, I cannot accept your offer. While I admit to having only three or four ask.fm followers (depends on the day), and absolutely zero likes to any of my previous 173 answers, quid pro quo is not how I wish to gain either. It would feel like cheating. I would prefer someone just like my answers or follow me because I wrote something they found clever or helpful.
Plus, never having received one I can’t be sure, but aren’t all “likes” on ask.fm anonymous? How would you even know I’d completed my end of the bargain for you to carry out yours? Seems extra shady.
Finally, would Ariana Grande really waste time on her very busy schedule to troll the likes of me? Please understand I’ve had quite a few friends who have experienced harassment from unwanted online impersonators. While I don’t know Ariana personally, I feel the need to report phony accounts wherever I find them and have done so with you.
Thanks anyway,
Tim
