heidi do you think once Mnet announces shinee is attending the MAMAs, voting will pick up? i just feel so so bad we can't seem to raise the rankings altho i understand how busy shawols are. the boys deserve so much better. they work so hard & it hurts that they always think they're not good enough

sorry for this late reply ><
yeah it's unfortunate we can't always give shinee the big wins ㅠㅠ but i don't think they would be that disappointed! they know we work hard and they really do know that we love them sooo much. we don't need superficial awards to prove that! our trust in each other and our interactions with them are enough ;u; so don't feel too bad bc it's something we can't control...we all work hard and even so, those other groups will usually win anyway. so just try hard but don't be too sad!! ^^ at least we try! and the most important part is that shinee stays #1 in our hearts ㅋㅋㅋ <3 *cheesy cheesy*

I'm shocked EXO doesn't have one. wow??? and f(x) i assumed because fans haven't even been given a name. It's really sad :( Red Velvet might have to wait a while. Feels like SM stopped being organized after 2008? lol. Yeah maybe SM fans should just have an uprising together so they open it all

Yeah that's right isn't it? EXO has their fanclub name and that website/app they opened, but that's not the same kind of fanclub SM's other artists have, it's different. And yeah f(x)...over 6 years and they didn't yet get a fanclub or even fanclub name, concert, or...I don't think they ever even officially announced a fan color, did they? smh. Even though now they're finally announcing the fc name and getting a concert, I honestly feel like...hardly even happy. I mean I AM happy for them and the fans, but I'm really angry with SM. After this long, I just feel more like rolling my eyes and saying "yeah sure finally u__u" than saying thank you. lol T__T getting something after begging for so long doesn't feel like a reward.............
Yeah it seems around 2009 SM just started giving up and it all rolled to a halt lol. Such a shame. Let's all band together and riot LOL :(

It sound so nice to get to cut in line sigh. I can see why it sucks being unofficial. They should really open it!! Whoever's in charge of finance/profit working at SM should be thinking about this?? I would lol. I hate being international. SHINee's tour stops are always limited to a few shows :(

Yeah T_T maybe in the future...SM needs official fanclubs open for all their groups. SHINee only has 1 generation, from what I remember SNSD only has 2, SJ and TVXQ have 2~3...and EXO and f(x) don't even have official fanclubs! Even Red Velvet deserves a fanclub by now, they've been debuted for over a year. Meanwhile SHINee got their fanclub name in only 100 days and registration opened before they were even one year old...it would be nice if SM just mass-opened all of their fanclubs and put an end to all of our suffering! XD

Opening to residents in Korea (both K + international) makes sense but adding overseas fans would be too much tbh haha. Not much point cause we're not actually there. I wonder why SM did that. Maybe they're just trying out new stuff to see which is better? Show benefits vs ticket benefits etc

Adding overseas fans would make it a bit crazy but, fanclubs cost money to join so that's why most idol groups open their fanclubs to overseas fans as well now XD. And you get an official fanclub package including an ID card and some other gifts maybe postcards or etc (I don't really know...), and other than line benefits they also get early ticketing access and access to fanclub-only merch like the official SHINee World towel, regular fans can't buy it. Some stuff like that. It may not help most intl fans that much, but it would earn SM more money, which benefits them, and with the increase in the amount of foreigners coming to Korea to visit or study or work, it would be a lot more beneficial to a lot more people than it used to be 5 years ago. The amount of foreigners here has increased an INSANE amount very quickly.
And I was a fan since SHINee debuted. I even saw the website and tried to sign up when their fanclub first opened, but I was blocked from applying because I didn't live in Korea. If it was open to foreigners at the time, I would be able to use my membership when I came to Korea in the future. But I moved here 3 years ago and it's still not possible for me to be an official...I've potentially been a fan even longer than some officials have been fans, yet I was blocked from applying. So it actually could help many people. In case SM took forever to open the fanclub again, it would be good for intl fans to have fanclub memberships in case they do get a chance to come to Korea in the future.ㅠㅠ cuz I know that struggle </3

Haha everyone should try and ambush the boys imagine at the fanmeet everyone goes up to them and says "OPEN THE FANCLUB" to all the members. Maybe write a letter to their manager? hahahah. Are there usually a lot of official fans who get treated better? Like what's the estimate

No way to know how many active official fans there still are, since every event is different and sometimes more come than other times. Also to be honest many official fans may live outside of Seoul and rarely come to see SHINee at things like music shows. But counting only the very active fans who go to music shows every week, there's a lot. Hundreds. On weekends or special stages when attendance is high, there's hundreds of officials that all automatically cut in line in front of the unofficials no matter what time they show up. They could show up in the morning and get in before an unofficial fan who waited in line outside for a day and a half...u__u

Wouldn't SM want more fans in the club I LITERALLY UGHHH. And i've read stories. Problematic fans need to leave Shinee/Shawols alone & deal with their own problematic group. Would there be a way to get SM to open the fanclub? If fans in korea did a huge project? Or tell Shinee at fanmeetings hahaha

LOL! Actually people do sometimes. I remember a fanaccount of a fan telling Taemin recently that fans have waited forever and they really want the fc opened, and Taemin said "OMG i'll definitely tell them!" but tbh who knows if he forgot or if SM just doesn't care or what. Other than what, writing a letter to SM staff? Lmao...I don't know if it would have much effect. I mean, it's been a long time and I'm sure they know that fans are angry already, so they must have some dang reason for still refusing to open it...whatever that reason may be...I doubt it's laziness. It's been so long since it was opened, it may even cause some problems. The fans who are currently officials are used to being treated well, if the fc opened then suddenly everyone would be equal and I don't think they want that lol so they would be mad *rolls eyes*. It's ALREADY enough of a war going to recordings and events, if everyone became equal or if SM got rid of the fanclub, suddenly it would be....crazy, I assume. Normally idol groups open fanclubs once a year, so if SHINee waits 7+ years then the new influx of fans will be a million times worse, especially if it was open to overseas foreigners. It would be intense.
But also there's been some weird stuff going on lately with SM and the fanclubs thing. It's making everyone kind of nervous. First, SM got rid of pre-ticketing for officials for SWC4, and that freaked everyone out. It's the first time that ever happened. But Shawols still had fanclub benefits at music shows. And then when Suju came back, SM kept the fanclub pre-ticketing for their concert, but then at music shows they got rid of the fanclub benefits. It was opposite of SHINee. WTF??? No one even knows why. Why would they change anything at all? Why did they change them in opposite ways? Are they planning to erase the fanclubs completely? Or are they planning to reopen them soon? Or are they just fucking with us? NO CLUE. *scared*

Are fans who managed to joined the official fanclub... still fans though? Like i imagine a lot of them probably moved on to other groups tbh... unless they are the ones who stuck with shinee. Are ppl allowed to leave the fanclub? If they are, i would expect there to be more spaces >.<

Many left the fandom, yep. And this causes a huge problem for us because *whispers* fans (usually of a certain group *cough*) that used to be Shawols get caught breaking rules, like taking photos at music shows for example, and when the staff questions them they show the staff their old Shawol ID card and lie and say that they're Shawols. Then shawols get in trouble, and we're forced to FIGHT the staff to make them check the cameras and see whose photos they took, just to clear our name. I've seen this happen with my own eyes many times. It's really common........
And overall it's not really an issue of fanclub "spaces", when they open the fanclub anyone who joins in the right time period can join, there's no limit. The reason they haven't opened it is just...just because. I don't fucking know...also joining the fanclubs costs money, so we joke a lot like "why doesn't SM open the fanclubs, don't they want our money? Makes no sense lol".

Hi Heidi! I've just read your tumblr post about how to get to music show. I just wanna ask if there is any possible way that new fans like me could register as official fan? Thankyu!

Unfortunately, no. For SHINee and other SM groups, you can't join the fanclub until they open the registration period. But, SM hasn't opened registration for any of their groups in years. SHINee has only opened their official fanclub one time, over 6.5 years ago *sigh*
There's no telling if SM will get rid of their fanclubs completely, or if they will ever open them again, but we've been waiting a long time. Very many fans are upset about it because for people here in Korea, the official fans get a LOT of benefits that the unofficials do not, but it's been over 6 whole years where no new fans have had a chance to join. Even fans that have been waiting for 6 years still can't be official. Hell, even some fansite masters aren't even official fans!! Anyone that became a fan since Juliette era and beyond isn't official. It's really frustrating watching them all cut in line, get early ticketing benefits, etc...so unfair.
And anyway, back in 2009 (when SM first opened SHINee's fanclub), they had a lot of restrictions for foreigners. You had to live in Korea and also have an active visa and Alien Registration Card to apply. Most other idol groups open their fanclubs once each year, and most of them have changed their fanclubs since then to allow overseas foreigners access. But since SM hasn't opened their fanclubs in years we technically have no idea if they would even change that rule, and that's only IF they open it, which seems really unlikely given how long we've already waited...wtf. *rolls eyes*
Sorry for ranting I just get so upset every time I think about it. :(

Yeah!! Join the fangroup!! ^^ They'll love having more Shawols! Y'all can discuss or post pics, or fangirl/boy. Everything!! Make sure to introduce yourself so everyone says 'Hi!'. They're all friendly!! :D And I totally feel you with enjoying translating!! THE SUCCESS WITH FINISHING AN ARTICLE~ 최고~

Ok thanks!! :) Thank you for contacting me and being so nice ^^ <3

But I don't see much of any errors from you! So impressive!! Keep doing you! Keep translating well! Your Korean will only get better!! :D Cheers!! (3/3) Uh... No question... Hm.... Why do you like SHINee? Do you like other groups (male/female groups)?

OMG no way. That's so nice of you to say!! I really enjoy translating, but sometimes I feel too shy to do it because I'm not a native Korean speaker so I think people will dislike me if I make any mistakes, so it can be stressful, but anyway I try my best because I do still enjoy it anyway. I've been studying Korean for a long time T_T
I like SHINee because...everything about them! Lol first I enjoyed their music. The music is a really important part of picking "favorite groups" for me. Then after that I just fell in love with their personalities and looks and talent, everything ^^ I've been a fan of them for a very long time, since they debuted, so they mean a lot to me <3
I do like other groups! I tend to like all SM groups the most, but I enjoy listening to other kpop groups as well. Outside of SM my favorite groups change all the time, but currently I really enjoy Got7's new album. :) Though, usually I prefer girl groups overall ㅋㅋ

I checked out your twitter that he linked, and just quickly skimmed through your ask.fm (WITH NO STALKER INTENTIONS I PROMISE!!!). But WOW!! I'm impressed with your Korean!! Usually I see small errors or grammar errors when it comes to the way a lot of foreigners use Korean.. (2/3) (Ha.. one more..)

.

hi, can you spread the word to fans to vote for shinee & jonghyun for MAMA 2015? we are doing really badly and the boys really need our support tbh. shawols need to vote everyday on as many twitter, fb, and mnet accounts as possible

^ YES LISTEN TO THIS!!! ㅠㅠ please try, everyone!

Hello heidi, by looking for information about Pinehill house, i saw one of you answer on ask. I'd like to know if you still think it was a good goshiwon? Also, what is a booking deposit? (i'm not an english native speaker so... i don't understand this term) Thank you!

Yes I like it here! I've never had any real problems. The walls are soundproofed well, the building is clean, the kitchen is usually stocked well too. The price is a little expensive overall but in this location it's a good price.
The deposit is the money you have to pay when you first book the room, before you move in.

how is shinee going to win anything at MAMA when everyone else has such strong fanbases :(

all we can do is try :( we have to keep going even though it seems futile. there's always those other fanbases who are better than us at voting, it's always been this way...but what matters is we just try our best anyway T_T for shinee....

sorry this is not a shinee question but is it common for people to get casted on the streets in korea? like krystal and jessica?

i don't know exactly how common it is but from hearing current idols' "how-i-got-casted" stories it seems VERY common. especially since, unlike auditions, with street casting you don't really know if they have much talent or potential in other areas besides looks so it can be a gamble i think? so they probably street cast a loooooot of people and many don't make it through training. but yeah, i don't really know but judging by the amount of street-casted people that have debuted already, it seems really common.

how do you see connection of jonghyun and iu?

what do you mean, like their relationship? i'm not sure about that, they're friends right? i used to kind of ship them a little, but i don't think i do anymore XD

after you finish your language program, will you be applying for undergrad degree at sogang as well or a diff uni? :) and would you go in as a first year or transfer since you have done a few years of uni before and already have some credits?

i haven't decided yet! (which is stupid i know, i have to do that soon lol) because if i graduate the language program at sogang, then the entrance fee for the main uni is free. but i haven't weighed it against other universities yet. it depends on what i decide to study. ahhhhhh. i have a lot of thinking to do still lol. i have no idea.
and for the credits thing, i would need to transfer some of my old credits if it's possible. but it's been many years, and i heard they expire eventually? so first i have to figure out if it's even possible. if not, i'll have no choice than to start over hahaha ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ orz...my dad would kill me :-)

why jonghyun had his hoodie up and didn't wave to fans in the video you retweeted? has he been feeling sad or unwell? :(

no, i don't think so! O: he already showed his hair before so i don't think he was trying to hide it. maybe he just wanted to show off the fancy design on his hoodie hahah, i'm not sure. i think he mentioned he was pretty tired from all the concerts and schedules, but i don't think he's sad or anything. don't worry too much TuT

How tall are Korean girls? I'm adopted from Korean and I'm only 162 cm. But I know other girls adopted from Korea and they are 167-170 cm.

of course they're all different heights. i suppose the average here may be a little shorter than the usa or other countries, but i'm 165 and i see girls who are both taller and shorter than me all the time o: some are very short, some are very tall. the variety is huge, so no need to worry too much about that! (p.s, google says the average for females here is 162! ^^)

Hello ^.^ what do you think about Key as musical actor ? and do you think there's a chance to see him in drama someday?

i think he is a FANTASTIC musical actor! i've seen all of his musicals since his first one, catch me if you can. he really improves so much every single time. his singing is amazing (along with his raps in the new show, in the heights!) and his dancing and acting are on point! even when there are minor mistakes or unexpected things happen, he always does improv so well and is really professional. seriously, he's great!! and i think his cast members always like him a lot too <3
as for dramas, i'm not sure because i think key enjoys the thrill of a live performance, and he likes seeing the audience's reaction. he's been doing a lot of serious shows lately, but he always seems like he has a lot of fun when the show is energetic or funny and the audience has parts where they can laugh or cheer along! key feeds on that crowd energy haha. i don't think drama or movie acting suits him like they do minho. key enjoys musical theatre ^^ big, flashy, dramatic. it's so his style! and i think for an actor it's a very different thing to do than film. but it would be so interesting to see him in film someday. who knows!
