what kind of makeup do you use? i'm just getting into the whole thing and trying to figure out what's out there ^^

Ooohhh nice question, sorry for the wait!
For a casual day I just use eye makeup [shadow, liner, eyebrows, mascara] and a bit of blush, nothing too complicated ^_^
When I do something more elaborate I personally use BB-cream and/or cream foundation as a base, a nice powder that's quite light, more dramatic eyes with optional false lashes and/or lenses, I put highlights as well as blush, something on the lips [gloss, stain or lipstick, but I'm not always very happy with lipstick haha] and stickers to finish it off.
I don't know if you need any specific tips or recommendations?? But that's basically what I do, can take anything from 10 minutes to over an hour when I want something specific xD
I taught myself through trial and error and lots and lots of Youtube videos. I wasn't into makeup when I was still at home to ask my sister for help and only really got into it a few years ago. But I like it, I like researching about different techniques and looks and learning about vintage looks [especially for eyebrows] and also finding the right products and tools that are vegan friendly! So I would say find out what kind of styles you like, what kind of features you have [e.g. I know I have a certain type of eye, then that needs a certain type of style, etc] and experiment experiment experiment!

What is your favorite Disney princess and why do you like her so much?^^

darkromantica’s Profile PhotoJosine Maaike Annette
This is one of the toughest questions to ask me because I have a lineup of favourites!!
The girls closest to my heart are Aurora, Ariel, Cinderella, Rapunzel and Merida - I really freaking love Tangled and Brave as movies and have seen so often I can't *not* mention them. Mulan and Jasmine and Belle are fierce and strong independent women, how can I not like them? I mean, Jasmine has a tiger as a pet! Bam!
Well, when I was younger, Ariel was for sure my favourite. I had a little Ariel-barbie-doll and would play with her all the time! I am also a true Ariel at heart: a mermaid girl who collects shiny things in her grotto, wonders about what things are called, how people in other faraway places do the things they do, never happy where she is and leaving her family and friends behind in search of a different life. °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
I like her because she's not afraid to keep searching for what she wants, she can sing, she's goofy and she's cute oh and DUH SHE'S A MERMAID. But she's also really dumb and naive :'>>>
Aurora is my favourite because she's in the movie with my favourite villain. Haha, for real though, Aurora herself doesn't do much, does she? But what I like about her is that she goes out into a world that's a bit weird to her, and she follows her dream [not just the trope, her actual dream-dream]. She is, again, a bit of a naive teenage girl :'D but she's a romantic. I love the storyline in this movie because she doesn't know she's a princess and is perfectly fine with a simple life and it's just ~pure magic~ of ~true love~ and then he slays a dragon for her and she is just so PRETTY ughhh. She's just an overall classic!
Cinderella is my favourite because she is a hardworking, never-quitting, beautifully singing and gorgeous looking seamstress. I like that she uses old scraps and just lots of creativity to design something that matches with her dreams to help her escape from the harsh reality of her life. And she beats her villain just by simply being herself and letting the evil basically destroying itself. It's inspiring!
All these girls are girls who get saved so I want to shout out again to Merida who fights her own battles like a pro and doesn't have a love story [which I think is GREAT] and also Rapunzel who makes her dream come true and revolts against her villain and saves her love equally as he saves her. Uuuuuugh all the Disney feelings glob 。゚(゚ノД`゚)゚。

How often do you think about your future?

All the time. The future freaks me out. (╯︵╰,) I can't cope with it very well at the moment. I'm getting old and tired and way too sad with myself and what I think about as 'the future'.
http://youtu.be/OPB84hcApP0viefcakes’s Video 61925224251 OPB84hcApP0viefcakes’s Video 61925224251 OPB84hcApP0
I know change is great and amazing but it's probably better not to think about it too much and just to live it. But now I'm at one of those points where I'm in the final year of something and I have to think ahead and just no no no no no no noooo thaaank youuuuuu.

saw you in Paris at AP this summer. glad to know your sXe too, if only I knew it we could have much to talk about, instead not sayin a word at all (I was there with my bf, basically taking pics of him). You're into sXe music too? (like Minor Threat, not the hardline shit)

Awwww, well, don't worry about it, now you know, if we ever meet again just come say hi and stuff! (✿◠‿◠) I really enjoy meeting people sooo yeahhh! Are both of you sXe then? Either way, kudos to you haha! I find it really nice to hear of other people who are sXe! And I hope you enjoyed Paris anyway? haha ♡
Well, I'm definitely into some of the sXe music, indeed like Minor Threat, Refused, Gorilla Biscuits, Have Heart, Bleeding Through, but also Good Clean Fun and I consider Anti-Flag to be an sXe band as well, I'm a biiiig fan hu hu. I also follow some sXe groups on facebook that will post videos by bands that I wouldn't otherwise know of, but yeah the hardline shit isn't my cup of tea.
Oh yeah I find Cancer Bats inspiring as well, even though not all of them are actually edge, the songs are very PMA and there's just so much awesome when you watch an interview with Liam and the interviewer is like "Wowwww what are you on??" and he's all "Nothingggg babyyy!" hahaha.
But I'm mostly into harcore stuff, I tried sXe rap / hiphop once and it's just not really my jam. But props to those who make sXe music!

Why are you straight edge? :)

✖ I like to be as in control of my own life as I can [we have limited control as it is, there are so many rules inflicted upon us by life, society, age, etc.] - some people do things they regret when they are under the influence or try to deny responsibility. I hate that. There is no 'excuse' to fall back on when I fuck up, no memories lost: I am responsible for myself.
✖ I also did it a bit out of self-preservation: I have a very obsessive personality and I can see how I would easily abuse things until everything got so out of control that I would be dependent. I see how other people believe they cannot live a full or fun life without relying on cigarettes, alcohol or drugs... Especially in the Netherlands where I grew up with the idea that you *have* to, somehow - when I was younger I was convinced I'd be smoking weed and drinking along with everyone else when I grew up.
But then I got older, and I saw how people changed. So many people become full on addicts, the ones with the "you must use to have fun" attitude. I thought: NO WAY will I be like that! I am super hyper already and totally know how to have fun! I don't need to suddenly change to have fun! And until this day, I still believe in this.
✖ I also just cannot handle anything at all. Now, I don't know about drugs and I never smoked, but I drank a little when I was 14. I used to occasionally have small drinks, nothing serious. Then one day at a party I got really [blackout] drunk, I got so sick that I never wanted to drink again. However, they tell you "Everyone says that, lololol", so I tried again a while later. I probably only drank a few sips of a very mild drink, but I could already feel the effects. My reasoning is that it's because I have Asian genes and fucked up ears [= balance control is pooped, I also get car sick really easily] and the notion that just having a small drink having this effect on me scared me. I decided to stop for a while, I did a 'clean' period of about 8 months. I wanted to be in control myself, like I said. Live my life without peer pressure and see what would work for me. It is then that I found out about straight edge and really connected with the philosophy behind it and basically was all YES! YES! YEEESS! when I found it, haha.
When my period of 'cleanliness' was over, I decided to become straight edge for real, to truly live my life poison free!
✖ Basically I'm straight edge because the idea that you *have* to do something to fit in disgusts me, because I like living my life by my own rules, and because substance abuse ruins lives, man. So many lives get ruined because of it. I don't agree with it, hate the industry, hate the mentality. Some people are like "But how can you live like that?" but the truth is I'm so comfortable like this I would probably be lost if I suddenly started drinking. It just makes so much sense, I can't think otherwise. Also it's healthy for you :'D and it keeps you young. Win win win!

Oooohhhh it was quite nice! I had been wearing Lolita all by myself for a long time and then I went to Japan Expo in 2008 and on the monday there was supposed to be a big international meet up, so we went... but it was semi-cancelled on the day [because of rain] HOWEVER some very persistent people still showed up and I'm glad they did! We took many pictures near the Eiffel tower, we sat down and talked, then we went to the Notre Dame where we were photographed and even later appeared in L'Officiel magazine [funny story]! (´ω`★)
You can tell this was a really long time ago because Sweet Lolita looks so different now!
I had a really nice time meeting other girls, and especially such international ones.
This was also before I had any wigs yet so I have my crazy coloured short hair that looks terrible (≧▼≦;) But there were two amaaaazing pirate twins and some other really inspiring outfits and everyone was just really nice! It really made me want to get something going in Belgium, which I eventually ended up doing.

Who was your idol when you were growing up?

My idols were the heroes in the books I used to read. I really liked adventure stories such as Nils Holgersson and Pippi, and a lot of Dutch children's books such as de Kleine Kapitein and Pluk van de Petteflet. I always imagined I would fly away to a hidden magical world on a ship that looked like a house with a wise companion and some animal friends, to slay evils but befriend dragons and find treasure...

What habit that others have annoys you most?

1. Animal abuse [and being super casual about it...]
2. Generalisations and assumptions
3. Not being upfront about things
Basically loads of things annoy me hahahah whateverrrrr

What would be the perfect gift for you?

Something that ~the gift giver~ has put originality and thought into, it can be something really personal like something handmade, or a photo of yourself/the both of us - I like that stuff. But it can also be something store-bought with a good purpose and a great memory/story attached to it.
In that vein, something like Polaroid film would be perfect since I could then put it directly to use in my camera, and snap a picture of us!
Some of the best gifts I've had were going to places and do something together, like going to concerts. My favourite kind of gifts are like that, just a chance for us to have a great time together.
Yeah yeah but really I could use a TARDIS so just gimme one.

What insects are you afraid of?

Anything that can sting or bite, such as bees and wasps. I'm not necessarily afraid of them all the time, I just don't want to be stung or bitten. Like I'm not afraid of fleas I just don't want them near me >_<
When I was younger my mother told me the large dragonflies that we would see in Vietnam could be very vicious if they got bothered, so I was afraid of them.

This is not a question but the table is a girl-table =D Though here let's have an actual question anyway: how's your day going?

DemiShinigami’s Profile PhotoCaroline H.
WELL THERE YOU GO DUTCH-LEARNERS, the table is a girl! Beschuit met roze muisjes for all! (◕‿-)
I know those things for French, but not Dutch - and genders are not always the same cross-linguistically! Although you know this ;D But I like that whole debate of whether language shapes thought and gendered nouns always come into discussion in that kind of research.
My dayyyyyyy is going great so far! Nice lazy morning with fresh homemade chocolate-raspberry muffins and no rain!
But soon I have to go back to my books and dive into more psycholinguistic theory. Although I think I'm safe because it's language processing sooooo it's more about actual scientific research than theoretical speculation. I have Harley, Altmann and Garnham on my list for today, maybe some Aitchison if I have time. "Words in the Mind" is actually a really good beginners read I think!
/there you go, you're welcome, aren't you happy I give free recommendations (◡‿◡✿)

what is your favourite gender?

What do you mean? What for? I'm a bit confused... ahah.
I am a pretty confident 3 on the Kinsley scale. I am easily friends with, and attracted to, all kinds of gender. For me it's more important that you're a decent person. I know I have had more relationships with boys but that has been because of circumstance rather than preference AND my current partner doesn't agree with the heteronormative gender binary and neither do I. I say this because we don't identify with it, and it's reallllllly not important at all. I really don't think about gender on a daily basis, neither should anybody else. Pretty much all that matters is that you are confident and comfortable with YOU - who cares if you identify as female/male/queer/unicorn! Just BE FABULOUS~ (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
As for grammatical gender, now I like language systems where it's a division between animate and inanimate objects. I like that in Dutch you can have words that are either 'gendered' or 'neuter' and then we just don't care anymore than that?! Like, you'll have to explain that the word is gendered [e.g. when explaining Dutch to someone learning the language] and they'll ask "Oh, so is it feminine or masculine?" and you'll say "I don't know. I don't know if the table is a girl-table or a boy-table. I just know that it's not a neuter-table". So much easier than some language with all their millions of genders, cases and subsequent inflections!
I ALSO REALLY LIKE WHEN LANGUAGES JUST DON'T HAVE ANY GENDER!!! No gendered nouns! And gender-neutral pronouns! Because that's brilliant and makes a lot of sense.
If somebody's a sociolinguist, can you find out for me if gender-neutral languages have less of a 'problem' with regards to gender, e.g. gender equality between male/female and also transgendered people? This is something I'm suuuper interested in. Like, if you're transgender then do you have 'less' of transition because you don't have to switch pronouns OR is it even harder because you don't have a clear 'system' to identify with? These are obviously very crude questions but if someone has research on this then throw it my way, I wonder if people are at all interested in this or if they just go "man, why is the rest of the world so obsessed with gender..." hahaha!

Would you tell me songs that inspire you for lolita?

This song is inspiring me for Sweet for example haha, kind of speaks for itself

I really want to do a "literal cupcake" outfit once and I'm sure this video is going to inspire it lotsss (。♥‿♥。)
Other than that I just listen to a lot of 'female' music which spans from Marina & the Diamonds to Emilie Autumn to Gwen Stefani to Amanda Palmer to Maria Mena to Regina Spektor! They're all different but I think they're each inspiring in their own way ◕ ‿ ◕ I wonder what Japanese lolitas listen to...

If you could either fly like Superman or become invisible at will, which would you choose?

Fly and sit on the clouds and build a castle and be a full-time unicorn. Superman is a pretty lame superhero but being able to fly is awesome. NO MORE PAYING TRAVEL COSTS! Being invisible would be fun, but it's nowhere near as practical as flying. Except when you want to go to concerts or prank people, then maybe being invisible might be handy. But flying wins. (▰˘◡˘▰)

what is your favorite print?

My favourite print of allllll tiiimeeeeeee is Puppet Circus [see http://viefcakes.com/lolita-30-day-challenge-06/] but I have a longer list of course, so here's a few others:
~ Day Dream Carnival [✔ ... well, almost!]
~ Dream Sky [✔]
~ Dreaming Macaron [✔]
~ Fantasic Dolly
~ French Café [✔]
~ Magical Etoile
~ Melody Doll [✔]
~ Memorial Cake
~ Milky Planet [✔]
~ Mircale Candy
~ Star Night Theatre [✔]
~ Sugary Carnival [✔]
~ Toy Parade [✔]
~ Twinkle Mermaid
And a lot of Baby's fairy-tale prints like Red Riding Hood! Love the embroidery, not sure if it counts as 'print'?
As you can see I'm a typical Sweet Lolita addict. Hoooo well. Curses, AP, curses, for all those amazing prints! *O* And even if I own quite a few of my list, there are still items that I want, hahaha, never going to be satisfied, especially not since they keep releasing more!

Do you remember your first kiss?

Yes, it was quuuiiite a while ago, (*ノ▽ノ) and I'm not sure I really remember the actual first kiss by itself but it was quite sweet, I have fond memories of my first kiss with my first girlfriend!
After this, I had a few years where I was too scared to kiss anyone, especially since we were now in puberty, I completely forgot how to do it! So then I had to go through that whoooole thing again!
It was with my boyfriend at the time and during a school night out [a dance, I guess]. I remember being really nervous, then completely forgetting why I was so nervous, and then being glued together for the rest of the evening. I think we annoyed all of our friends (⊙﹏⊙✿) And then one of our mutual friends broke our 'moment' by getting really really close, I opened my eyes and got freaked out!! Hahahaha. In hindsight, this is hilarious. So yeap, two first kisses for me. (*ノ▽ノ)
The good news is that after those horrible being-glued-together-first-kisses I actually calm down in the PDA-action a LOT, hahahaha.
