I condition my hair in the shower every other day sometimes every day, shampoo once a week. Someone once told me that even wetting your hair in the shower can be damaging because its considered washing it too much, is this true?

You should condition it every time you get it wet in the shower to deal the cuticle

What brand of Shampoo and Conditioner would you recommend to someone with curly dry and damaged hair? Other than DevaCurl. Something I can buy at a Walgreens for example.

I would never recommend you putting crap on your hair. Silicone, sulfates, parabens, polymers will damage your hair & I will not be the person to give you the go ahead.
I'm more of a luxury hairdresser & use high end products.

Are braids bad for my hair? Like two braids after I condition?

Not at all. They can create a curl pattern for damaged hair

Whatever works for you as long as you do the proper research for a good stylist that will give you good extensions.

Use whatever works for you. I've gotten amazing results with Deva so I'm sticking to it. Nobody said good stuff is gonna be cheap!

Parts of my hair don't curl anymore because of heat damage (probably, it's been so long I don't remember if they used to curl, but I'm assuming they did) is there any sort of hair therapy I can try to do and bring the curl pattern on these straight parts back to life? Or is it hopeless?

I always wear my hair curly and I like it like that , but in the winter I like to wear it straight sometimes too . (I only straighten once cause i wrap at night) Any products you suggest to use when flat ironing my hair ? Heat protectant , serum stuff like that ?

i colored my hair a year ago at a beauty school (i know. dumb.. but cheap) and it damaged my hair so bad. so i cut off four inches about 3 weeks ago of the straight/damaged part and now it's mostly my natural curly hair. when should i get a trim next??

Never heard that before. Regular trims keep your ends looking good so you can MAINTAIN length by avoiding breakage & split ends.

I use products with dimethicone in them but I don't want to give them up because I really like how they make my hair feel. Can I use Devacurl no poo to remove the build up?

Doesn't make sense...... The dimethicone is silicon based that coats your hair with a plastic build up preventing the conditioner from hydrating your hair.
You're not getting a real shine not a soft bounce. You're weighing down the hair & suffocating it.

Most likely those straight pieces won't curl on their own anymore. Start fresh if you're comfortable with it.

Morrocan oil? Good or bad

Only very little on dry hair. It can build up & coat the hair preventing conditioner from hydrating the hair.

Selsun Blue for dandruff?

is like a band aid for an injury. You can prevent it in most cases if you use products that don't build up & create a film of sticky substance on your scalp. If it's medical, consult with your doctor.
I noticed that if you use the DevaCurl line properly you (usually) don't get dandruff. This is purely from what I've seen over the years.
