Ever find yourself ,so inhance by the gift. That made you look into your family history?

Michael Perez
I know my family history quite well, and was always exposed to it, so I never felt the need to seek out for more. The art of dance and traditional music has always been a part of my family.

I play the piano, and used to own a santoor, playing it occasionally. Eventually I will play the santoor again.

if Opeth ever contacted you to do a show with them would you do it? and why?

In a heartbeat. I love Opeth. Their music is one of my favourites to dance to, creating a lot of emotions in me as I dance.

Why don't you use an Iranian style headscarf on a photoshoot? I think it'd look pretty neat.

Actually, my upcoming photoshoot theme is based around that subject. However, far older than the current Persian fashion.

what kind of movies do you watch? and what is your favorite movie?

I watch all sorts of movies from fantasy, to comedy, cartoons, horror and pretty much any movie that catches my attention. My favourite movie of all time has to be "Interview With The Vampire".

Instinct or routinely?

All of the videos on my YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/Mahafsoun) are improvised. There is something raw, natural and true about improvisations that I never felt when I did choreography, so I stick with improvisation.

Any chance you would improvise to a band called "Stratovarius" ? Some of their songs fit perfectly into your bellydancing style. plzzz <3

I will look into that band and listen to their material. Thanks for the suggestion!

do you have family in Iran? and do they know that you belly dance?

My entire family is back there, and yes, they know that I am an artist, as I send them my photoshoots and videos often.

why did you start to dance?

At 15 I fell in love with Ancient Egyptian spirituality, and felt drawn to the art of bellydance.

What perfume do you use? (If you use one). Hugs, dear Fo!

I have several favourites, and an official (secret) one, but generally I prefer floral/sweet scents. :)

When you preformed with Epica how was mark and simone?? I mean I get to meet them in April in Aus Iam just curious how they are like?? :)

Mark is an awesome guy! Very outgoing and friendly with fans. I highly suggest saying hello to him if you see him around at the gig.

They say this art form of dance, was to calm mans need for war?

Never heard of that to be honest. Perhaps in the Greek era. To my understanding and belief, the earliest purposes of this art form were spiritual and/or ritualistic, to honour the Goddess.

who are your favorite metal band ever? and what is your favorite song by them?

The best answer I can give is to direct you to my Facebook account www.facebook.com/Mahafsoun and to my Music section. The first 30 or so bands listed there are my all-time favourites, and to be honest, I can't pick an absolute favourite song. Too difficult!

How are you able to separate your own style of bellydancing from the standard middle-eastern one ?

I move differently with different styles of music, and spend a lot of time trying to figure out what moves I can incorporate into my routines, and build my own style.

How much did you pay for this splendid Tatoo on your belly (if you don't mind telling the price of course) ?

My tattoo artist charged $150/h (before tax). The tattoo took 4 hours.
