Some may think this is a nerdy question haha, Favorite superhero?

I'm not too familiar with superheros to be honest, as I don't watch such movies, though I should probably get into it eventually... I guess just from appearance alone, I think that Batman is awesome.

Do you enjoy other genres of music besides Metal and Classical (I've heard some of your piano compositions)?

I enjoy certain musicians of other genres. For example, I love APC and bands that are similar, so, alternative music. I enjoy some of Lana Del Rey's music, the ones that sound least "hip hop". I am into some rock bands as well. I don't like country music and rap at all, never been a fan of any musician from those genres.
The best way to know what bands I love, is to check my Facebook Likes. I try to keep the Music list up to date with the musicians/bands that I am loving.

What does inspire you when you create a beautiful choreography or is it completely improvised?

Thank you. Every video I have uploaded has been improvised. I prefer improvisation, because it is more raw and true. It is the motions created by the emotions that I am feeling at that very exact moment in time.

do you prefer cats or dogs?and why?

I'm more of a cat person. I'm not sure of the reason really... I can't say that cats are "sweeter" than dogs or anything like that. I just am a cat person. Haha

As someone who is showered with praise on the regular, (for good reason), what do you feel is the best compliment anyone's ever given you?

Thank you for the kind words. The best compliment ever is that I have inspired someone through what I do. I think that is the greatest compliment I can receive.

When you come to Europe, will you visit The Netherlands too? You have many fans over here ( incl. me ;) )

I'd love to visit the Netherlands some day! I have some friends from there that I'd love to visit as well.

I am a VERY big fan of A Perfect Circle, and anything that Maynard Keenan touches. After I saw one of your dance videos to a song by APC, I have to wonder what inspired you to dance to this kind of music?

Most likely the same reason why you listen to his projects - the emotions behind them. It is very raw, and very real. A lot of other music that I listen to express what has been expressed before... but a lot of A Perfect Circle music expresses specific emotions. At least for me, his music has certain meaning.

I have to confess I never took ask.fm seriously, but I like yours; through it i´ve "discovered" new details about you that made me now admire you even more than before. As for the question...do you have a favorite poem?

I do have a favourite poem, though it is originally in Farsi. It was the first poem I memorized, when I was around 4 years old, as my parents were in love with Persian literature.
It is called "The Alley" by the poet Fereydoon Moshiri. It sounds gorgeous in Farsi...
"On a moonlit night, once again,
Through the alley, I wandered, without you.
My body, an eye gazing in search of you.
My soul, a cup teeming with anticipation of seeing you.
Now, I became the mad lover, anew!"

You have a delightful voice, I probably watched the videos where you speak almost as much as the ones of bellydance; ever tried singing? I think you´d be great at it!

Thanks for that! I do sing as a hobby. I haven't really done anything strictly in this line, but it's possible that some day I will do something concerning music/singing. I would love to touch on a lot of art forms, even though dancing is still where I feel most "at home".

Mahafsoun, I wonder if you can speak any Azerbaijani since your mother is from Azerbaijan?

I can speak only a tiny bit, barely anything, but can understand quite a bit when my mom's side speak with each other. I think that most of my understanding comes from their expressions rather than the words...

what's about a photoshooting together with Salome would be great \,,/

I have that planned. She's a gorgeous model. ;)

what mindset do you usually find yourself in when you dance ?

It highly depends on what emotions I experience during that time of my life. What significant thing is effecting me in good or bad ways. Sometimes it is happy and positive, other times not.

How do you keep such a positive attitude and have such a positive outlook so often?

Thanks. I think I have just as many down days and moments as any normal person, but being in the art world, which is such a sensitive field, you have to develop some kind of a shield to keep far the certain negative emotions that won't benefit your passion/dreams, nor even inspire you. I think that keeping that in mind allows me to be positive towards most things.

Do you practice any sports? Dancing by itself is hardly enough to stay flexible and in shape, so, which kind of exercises are part of your routine?

I swim occasionally and work out a few days of the week, other than dancing.

Are you happy living in Canada? Have you ever thought about moving back to Iran? Canada has always been a place I look forward to live in, at least for a time. How is to live there, the weather, the people?

I love living here and have no plans in returning to Iran to stay, though I have family there and return now and then.

What two things would you say have been your greatest joy and your greatest disappointment in life?

I think that currently, looking at my life, the answer is:
Greatest joy: Being loved by someone who supports what I love to do unconditionally, and who stands behind me during the ups and the downs.
Greatest disappointment: Learning not to depend all of my inspiration on another person/artist, because sometimes, they can turn out to be far from the inspiration you once envisioned.
Thankfully, the greatest joy is bigger than any disappointment. :)

What's your favorite color? I noticed how almost in all your photos you are wearing black, is it for the photos or you dress like that normally?

I prefer to wear black, and that is how I dress most of the time, but my favourite colour is violet.

Has anybody ever asked you to take a picture with you? I mean like "Hey it's Foroogh from Mahafsoun! Can i take a picture with you?"

As funny as it sounds, yes, it's happened before. It's really sweet when someone "recognizes" me somewhere.

have you ever tried tribal belly dance or you prefer metal bellydance?

I believe that some of my dances have some tribal bellydance-inspired moves, alongside ballet-inspired moves, all mixed up. Although I have never tried out tribal bellydance strictly, I would love to some day. It requires so much control, I love it.

What are your thoughts regarding the Korean song called "Gangnam Style"?

It's festive. Not something I would listen to. Although I get why it is so famous, it is very catchy.
