Why would you personally say a half pad is a must have for jumping for a beginner? If the saddle isn't fitted specifically with a half pad beneath it then it can do damage to the horses spine if you just put one on for the sake of it

thinline half pads don't change saddle fit . Extra shock absorption is good for jumping
