Maybe Firebrand was under the administrator's control at the time and couldn't do anything about it. Or maybe he needs Mary Asher to become Cursor so that she can drive the plot further somehow.
Also, with Mary dead, she can't legally stop Noah from getting into her things. If Noah breaks into Mary's safe, she could get him arrested for tresspassing. But now that she's Cursor, Mary can't do shit to Noah as he obtains the safe.
And even tho Cursor could still have info regarding how the Collective works, it would be pretty useless to ask her about it since Firebrand has pretty much told us everything.
One other thing tho. Firebrand is screwing up time right now as we speak. If he allows Mary to live, he could potentially break reality. So maybe he has to have Mr. Scars kill Mary so that time can be at least a little but stable. That's all I got.

Cringeworthy jokes aside, what exactly is your phone's problem? I know that Android can be quite buggy and it requires a restart every now and then.
I was literally JUST about to watch your Instagram post, and then it shuts down. When I try to turn it on, it won't work. When I plug it in, it goes through a perpetual loop of turning on for 2 seconds, and then shutting off for 3 seconds. When I try to restart it during this process, it shuts down faster than I can hit the reset button. So yeah. Imma little ticked off.
