First college hockey game you attended?

1994 HEA semifinals. BU-NU and UML-UNH ... remember it vividly. Sat in the balcony at the old Garden, about 7 rows up in the corner.

Did you write for Merrimack's student paper The Beacon?

I did not. I was a manager for the hockey program, though. That took up most of my "free" time.

Do you remember the first college hockey game you ever covered?

Don't remember the game, but it would have been, technically, the first semifinal of the 2006 HEA semifinals at TD Garden.

Thoughts on Frozen Fenway? You have been outspoken against outdoor hockey before!!

My opinion hasn't changed. But, as I discussed with someone today, these events are for me, or us in the media. Others seem to really enjoy them, so who am I to say there's anything wrong with it?

How does Quinnipiac look for this season? Cinderella run done without Hartzell?

They certainly lose quite a bit, but that being said, they also have some strong recruiting classes coming up and return who I thought was their best player for large stretches, Jordan Samuels-Thomas.

Any news on Blake Weyrick? Word was he'd commit a month and a half ago.

Had heard the same and still haven't heard where he'll end up.

Do you think Gillies returns to PC after this season?

Goalies tend to follow a different path. It would depend on what openings Calgary has in its organization, but I'd say there's definitely a chance. I'd probably say 55/45 he's there for his Jr. season.

What's the penalty if a NCAA player fails a steroid test?

They lose one full year of eligibility and have to sit out an entire season.

Do you listen to sports radio? 98.5 or EEI?

A little of both. 98.5 always in the AM and Midday. Usually flip back and forth during PM Drive. Although these two days, with the telethon, I listen to EEI as much as I can.

Any info on Austin Rook from the Rivers School?

Really, really like him. Big tall '97 ... he's already 6-3, 205 as a 16-year-old. Literally freak-of-nature type stuff. Plus he has a ton of skill and a really good shot.

Best arena/student section in Hockey East?

Good question. Maine and UNH are at the top. Merrimack's was great in 2010-11, faded a bit last year. BU's is obviously strong. UVM's is good when they're winning.

How much of a chance do you give BU beating BC in the first Beanpot round this year?

It's the Beanpot. 50/50.

Does Maguire take the job fully away from O'Connor this year, or will Quinn deploy a split similar to what Parker did?

They both played well enough last year to deserve a shot at the job. I think we'll see a similar rotation until someone claims the starting gig. They're in a nice situation though, where if one guy struggles, they can always go to the other guy.

Mack returns a lot. Who takes Bigos spot on D?

Jonathan Lashyn and Craig Wyszomirski could have played last year. Both more than ready.

Who will be the top3 point scorers in Hockey East (he games) this year?

In order: 1) Gaudrea, 2) Tynan, 3) Collins

What is your outlook on the NU goaltender situation? Witt the favorite to seize control?

Definitely will be a competition but I think Mountain has a shot, too.

Most overrated team in Hockey East this season? My vote goes go BU.

Hard to say, especially where we don't even know where anyone is "rated." ... That said, based on last year's performances, I think we could see a team like BU take a step back in the short term, given what they lost/graduated but I also like their recruiting class, a lot of under-the-radar guys.
