Radiohead or the cure?
that's a p odd comparison but if you're asking which band I enjoy more I'm gonna have to say Radiohead. There hasn't been a single album of theirs post-Pablo Honey that I don't love with the possible exception of The King of Limbs while Disintegration is probably the only Cure album that I can say the same thing about. Both are great, essential bands tho don't get me wrong. Revisit our guide to Radiohead playlist from a while back: https://open.spotify.com/user/berbisik/playlist/4tSSxb0n9a8Kfcz9U2MY6Y Should we make one for The Cure too? Just let us know. ?? / Earthmover /

I do! The Zurich-based Eluveitie of Nuclear Blast Records fame is one of the folk metal acts that I look up to the most. It's subliminal how they blend up Celtic folk elements with the iconic Gothenburg death metal style; they've been compared with fellow folk metal acts such as Korpiklaani and Ensiferum, but unlike those Nordic folk metal bands that prominently write songs about Norse mythology, Eluveitie's songs mainly revolve around the theme of Celtic mythology, in which they sometimes use Gaulish in lyrics. Also, they tend to feature more clean vocal than other folk metal bands. The instruments they use happen to be really diverse, regarding that they use a myriad of traditional folk instruments. They would release a new album this year, too! It happens to be the "sequel" of Evocation I: the Arcane Dominion, and would be titled Evocation II: Visions. / Dopethrone /
One of my all-time favorite Radiohead songs and a definite stand-out on OK Computer. The moment you hear those opening guitar melodies you know you're in for an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you feeling empty inside (1 like +1 Radiohead fan cred), and when that chorus hits, it's almost impossible to not feel anything. "Let down and hanging around/ Crushed like a bug in the ground/ Let down and hanging around." Thom wails as the instrumentation behind him intensifies, creating the musical equivalent of a sudden downpour on a cloudy day. However, unlike an actual downpour, it doesn't subside after a while, even when the momentum is dampened by that cascading guitar riff just before the bridge. No line could have preceded the last chorus better than "And one day/ I am gonna grow wings/ A chemical reaction/ Hysterical and useless/ Hysterical and..." because it captures the unwavering pessimism of the song so well, painting a picture of a growth that ultimately brings nothing but downfall. Then the chorus comes back around more potent than ever, before the song ends with subdued, fluttering synthesizer notes that are as final as they are melancholy. Catharsis is reached and you press play again. / Earthmover /
A God-tier comedian, a good-to-great musician, and all-in-all one of the best entertainers of our time. His work with the TV series Community has brought me countless laughs and good memories (you should check it out if you haven't), and while his musical output hasn't quite left the same impression on me, I can still appreciate it for what it is, which is easy-listening, commercial hip hop that is designed to improve moods. He seems to have taken his music in a new direction on his latest album, Awaken, my Love! and I like what I'm hearing. He has succeeded in bringing some much-needed depth and variety to his sound, proving he's a multitalented artist that deserves your attention more than ever. Like the former, somewhat lukewarm about the latter. Whitney's music isn't all that special in my opinion but they know what works and what doesn't, which enables them to overcome the less interesting aspects of their sound and emerge with really fun, catchy music. Whitney | Pitchfork Music Festival Paris 2016 | Full Set | PitchforkTV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLs27EgvnR8 Don't forget to also check out Smith Westerns, Max Kakacek and Julien Ehrlich's band before Whitney: Smith Westerns - Varsity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykOK2XZ80vg By the way, some of us are gonna catch them live at Laneway Festival next January in Singapore, so see you all there! . I'm not a fan of Hinds' because I think they pale in comparison to most bands having that saccharine, washed-out indie pop sound. And I find their music to be gimmick-y at times especially when the lyrics come across as lazy and pandering. I'd still recommend them to someone who's looking for an all-female version of that kind of sound, though. Hinds - Warts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLygTTOpE5w / Earthmover /
Hai kak! share playlist lagu versi kamuu dong, atau yang biasa didengarkan saat mood-mood tertentu? Sekalian kasih laesan ya kenapa pilih lagu itu. Thankyouu! :)
It's really confuse me when someone says, "wow, you have a good taste in music."
What do you think? Is that even a compliment when you just enjoy (almost) all kind of music? And, do we have to label a music whether it is a "good" or "bad" music? It would be great to know a lot of perspectives.
Judging from personal experience, when people say things like that it's actually a matter of subjective taste rather than a universal one because you're basically saying "You're a cool guy because you like the music that I also like." It's really that simple in my opinion. Does it qualify as a compliment? I'm not sure, but it's definitely a sign of appreciation on the speaker's part. You can certainly come up with your own definitions of good and bad music but you will receive little to no outside confirmation because people are just that different from each other. It's much easier, I think, to say whether you like or don't like something and take the discussion from there. / Earthmover /
Di tahun 2016 ini, Film apa yang menurut kamu paling bagus? share dong kak alasannya. boleh review sekalian :))
To keep it music-related, I'm going to briefly review the new Oasis documentary which was released this past October. Oasis: Supersonic trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9waBd3yPOLE Of all the britpop originators that were active in the early 90s, there is none more shrouded in drama and controversy than Oasis, and at its heart was the relationship between Noel and Liam Gallagher. Any Oasis fan worth talking about the band with knows how the dynamic goes; Liam gets to be unprofessional, Noel gets to clean up after him, and both of them rarely ever agree on anything. It might not seem all that novel or intriguing on paper, but the fact that it has inspired years of continued discourse proves that it remains to be a subject of interest for many and one that deserves a proper retelling, which director Mat Whitecross has accomplished by making Noel and Liam the two primary narrators of Supersonic. For the most part, the documentary excels at charting Oasis' meteoric rise in popularity and its impact on the band and the British music industry in general, but there were moments when I can't help feeling like Noel's and Liam's narrations were wasted as too much time was spent on subjects that I already knew about or had been sufficiently explored in a previous scene, like how the brothers were abused by their father growing up or the eccentricities of some of Oasis' other band members. Fortunately, my reservations were consistently alleviated by the back-and-forth between Noel and Liam as well as some of the hilarious unseen footage that ran concurrently with it, which was still the best part about the documentary on my subsequent viewings. If you're an Oasis fan and you go into Supersonic expecting your knowledge of the band to be enriched, you will likely be disappointed. On the other hand, if you just want to be reminded of how awesome Oasis was and have about two hours to kill, there's nothing better to do than watch it. / Earthmover /
Rekomen yang vibenya kaya qotsa - like a drug dong min!
A fan of their Lullabies to Paralyze era? Cool haha, barely ever find any. Regarding recommendations, I don't know whether you've ever listened to these before or not, but most of the artists from the Desert Sessions (in which Like A Drug has ever been featured in their compilation too) and other associated acts are worth checking too.Brant Bjork - Low Desert Punk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgpHSAXD5S8 This one notable prodigy of the desert rock/stoner rock scene, also of Kyuss and Fu Manchu fame, rocks bigtime, ffs.Colour Haze - Aquamaria https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7QNffGb86I They're a three-piece, Munich-based stoner rock act with a hint of psychedelic. They happen to be the good ol' pioneer of stoner rock scene in Germany as well.Earthlings? - Lunar Momento https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=709rf7Rxcwg Their sounds revolve around stoner rock, space rock, and psych rock. Basically some kind of a rather underrated supergroup where members of QOTSA, Kyuss, Eagles of Death Metal, Goatsnake, and the Desert Sessions (to name a few) are included.Stoned Jesus - I'm The Mountain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW1jxJ6ISks Kiev-based, this comes off as very underrated but they've got the vibes.Causa Sui - Red Sun in June https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zofHdXZJ0-g Their sounds are rather surreal; the kind of sounds that would drive you contemplating in space. Slow-paced psych/stoner rock, similar to Colour Haze./ Dopethrone /
