Why do you think I shoot primarily in Black and White?
I don't think my reasons would be accurate, or much less worth asking about.. but..
I think that monochrome subtracts noise and bustle from any photograph. Shadows and lights are made more pronounced, and lines, especially, are sharpened by the reduction of colour. It's minimal, and it draws its viewer to the focal point/subject in an immediate SNAP!
If there is some sort of figurative meaning behind your photographic works, I would think that the monochromatic scheme serves to conceal details. It becomes timeless and bears less relationship to specified contexts. More universal and less divisive. Colours allow us to identify places, time periods etc.
SO. again, the emphasis is placed primarily on the people (presuming your subjects are human) as a collective, the captured behavior strikes a chord within ourselves. Monochromatic shots reach out more intimately to its audience.
