I could actually spend an entire day just planning for an essay. But really I wish I practiced harder so that it all just comes automatically at A levels. It didn't, so the only concrete advice (other than developing a keen perception for the written word) I can give you is to churn essays like no tomorrow. Also, it's important you are acutely aware of thematic concerns, and how they are contextual for the author. Yah read more model essays if you want to know how to weave your examples in! I know I'm really late but I haven't had the time to compose a comprehensive answer to this. There's no sure way of studying for lit, but it helps to read what critics write about their book. There's no need, however, to theorize anything. Theories are there for you to understand better and develop a keener appreciation for the text. You should formulate just a few arguments (that encapsulate the concerns of the author) to use throughout your essay, and the question will serve so
