What is the difference between obsession and addiction, in your opinion ?
I think addiction is being physical dependent on a something whereas obsession is more a mental disorder or illness. Yes addiction is also an illness.
Why do some people get overly attached to others (emotionally) ? How does being attached to someone benefit them ?
Perhaps they suffer from a mild form of mental disorder suck as BPD, where "love" comes fast & hard. They are unable to process this like others. I don't think it benefits them at all. They have no control over it.
