Flat is the kind of paint. Theres flat (which is like matte), semigloss, and gloss. Coat is just how many layers of paint you put on the wall :)

Yeah, you don't have to everyday but to each his own. I shampoo everyday because the weather here is so humid and my hair would get oily if I didn't wash it daily.

when you do your room tour (really hoping you will), can you please include a brief how-to about painting your wall? i want to paint my wall, too, and i have no idea how to go about it. have no one to help me either...
My dad is the painting expert. All we did was set down 2-3 coat of flat white paint. For my colored wall, we just added a coat of the colored paint (also flat) over the white wall. :)
