How will students be sorted into classes?
The final classes (i.e. after EJC Orientation with the JAE students in Feb 2017) will be based on subject combination(s), allowing for adequate diversity!
For Jan 2017 (i.e. before JAE), our JIP students will be in tentative groups.

This is the best answer we can give right now - most colours! We'll be looking at setting the standards, including restrictions / allowances on footwear and other apparel, with our first cohort. In other words, we teachers won't lay down the norms just like that. The student body will have a big say!
You are free to wear what you'd like for now until we confirm the norms. You can wear all-white shoes from your secondary school (that's as safe as possible right?) if you want, but you don't have to.

Has the formal school uniform been designed?
If you mean the formal attire (college blazer), nope, it hasn't been confirmed yet. We do have a few rough ideas but will be working with our students on that!
Will the school subsidize programmes such as the Model United Nations conference(s)? Or even without subsidies, will students be allowed to attend the conferences even during school days?
We'll be exploring that with you! The only thing we can confirm is that it's not a 'no' - to both questions.

Could you give us an idea of what school shoes are allowed? Since school starts in about 2 weeks, many of us need to buy them soon (and grab those Xmas deals!) For example, black/white sports shoes are allowed right?
We are looking to talk to you guys to set the norms. Your two examples are definitely a YES. So long as it's nothing that causes your eyes to bleed (like SUPER NEON GREEN), it should be OK!

Hello! We recommend our students take up our current set of subject combinations, but we are not closed to these combinations. Rest assured there will be subject combi briefings in the first week of school and you can make your decision for you (not us). :)

What was your inspiration for the house names?
We ran through a long list of options! We unanimously chose Akila, Eder, Isami, Ora and Uzuri in the end because they each represent the meaning of Eunoia - beautiful thinking. Of course, the 'A', 'E', 'I', 'O' and 'U' had us convinced that it was the right choice!
Just as important to us was diversity - the idea that beauty and beautiful thinking is itself diverse and multi-cultural. The five houses express the same idea in five languages from the different continents. We hope that answers your question ;)

When will we be provided with the booklist?
Contrary to secondary schools, the JC curriculum is not based on a set of prescribed textbooks. The college will be crafting our own set of notes for various subjects (to be purchased from the bookshop throughout the sch term). Your subject tutors may recommend some books for your reference, most of which can be found in our media resource library
When will we receive the JC1 syllabus for the offered subjects?

Will there be a road show held in the school campus for the purchase of laptops?
We've not planned for a laptop roadshow. You may wish to note that it is not compulsory for all students to have a laptop. Laptops can be loaned from the library to support your learning needs.
How will the payment of school fees be made? Is it every semester or every year?
School fees are payable via GIRO every month
What if the release of O Level results fall on the first day of college? Do I still report to EJC or return to my secondary school to receive the results?
The date of release of O level results has not been confirmed. In any case, we have made provisions for the first day of college event such that you are still able to return to your secondary school to receive your results, if it falls on the same day.
How many vacancies are set aside for O-level students?
About one-third of the college population will be made up of students who apply through JAE with their O Level results, which translates to about 200 students (for 2017-2019 intake). The student population is expected to increase when we move to the actual campus site.
When will the college uniform be ready?
The uniform will be available for purchase when the college welcomes its first cohort of students in January 2017.
