how do you juggle these super-serious questions about philosophy and twitch with all these shitpost questions?

Philosophy is basically ancient shitposting

how come you don't like game grumps?

I was seriously considering not answering this but whatevaaaaaaa. I think the grumps are kind of a microcosm of the general thing I dislike about 'celebrity culture' which is that the people who appeal to the lowest common denominator generally succeed the most because they push no boundaries and challenge nobody. To say "I dislike gamegrumps" doesn't feel right, it is much more that I dislike celebrity culture and for our gaming mini-world gamegrumps are kind of at the top of it so they're the most visible to me. They are no worse or no better than Markiplier or Smoshgames or something like that (I am leaving Pewdiepie out of it because a few times he has used his platform to give interesting insights which are needed and it is incredibly difficult to criticise a system which you are at the top of and I think it's commendably brave of him to do it, content-wise he's on par with all these folks though)

top game of 2015?

Undertale because 1) It is the only game released this year which I have played I think and 2) There is a character in it called Papyrus who is my spirit animal
I have WAAY too much to say about why I like it. Like I hit the ask.fm character limit semi-regularly on questions I don't even have that much to say on whereas I have so much to say about undertale. I am not a fan of public people recommending stuff unless they have good knowledge (e.g "Hey Titanova I like games x, y and z and like game genre Q, what would you recommend?") but I would say if you are in any way curious there is a free demo of the game available on the website undertale.com

what are your last 5 google searches?

All of my last 5 were for things related to the questions I am answering LOL. However the last 5 since before them:
'Triumvirate' - word I like
'UCAS points' - things you need to qualify for stuff in England
'Douglas Gasking Ontological Argument' - the philosophy equivalent of trolling
'Vaporub hot water' - I have been ill IRL lately
'La Mer Mr Bean's Holiday' - really fancied learning the lyrics to this song

who's your celeb crush?

IT IS FUNNY YOU ASK because until like a month or so ago I could honestly say I'd never had a celebrity crush in my life, but now I can say it is Lauren Lapkus. She's so fucking funny it's great. I find funny women super attractive in general and Lauren Lapkus is one of the most funny women I know of from the celeb world. It's not like a "phwoar I would bang her" kind of crush but she just seems like she'd be hella fun to hang out with

anything cool coming up for you?

I am going to do a 24 hour livestream for extra life on November 7th, I am also working on getting job interviews and wanna start driving too. I know those last 2 are way more important but the stream is probably more relevant to you guys lol

why did you remake your twitter?

I said some personal stuff in old tweets which I did not wish to be immortalised, and when deleting tweets you can only delete your 3,200 most recent tweets. Also it means that when Yuki gets to 100 followers before me I will have an excuse as to why I don't care LOL

what do you think about hbox wanting to befriend mango?

I think it'd be great for smash to have a little more sportsmanship but at the same time I really dislike Mango so it's TOUGH. If Mango keeps losing to Hbox it would be a lot more easy for me to take

is it true that john cena made you stop streaming?

Yes he physically came to my house and said "DU-DUDU-DUUU not do that"

you talked about nietzsche in your pokemon nuzlocke. are you a fan?

Yes. I think the parable of the madman is the most beautiful piece of prose I've ever seen. Take a gander:
" The madman jumped into their midst and pierced them with his eyes. "Whither is God?" he cried; "I will tell you. We have killed him---you and I. All of us are his murderers. But how did we do this? How could we drink up the sea? Who gave us the sponge to wipe away the entire horizon? What were we doing when we unchained this earth from its sun? Whither is it moving now? Whither are we moving? Away from all suns? Are we not plunging continually? Backward, sideward, forward, in all directions? Is there still any up or down? Are we not straying, as through an infinite nothing? Do we not feel the breath of empty space? Has it not become colder? Is not night continually closing in on us? Do we not need to light lanterns in the morning? Do we hear nothing as yet of the noise of the gravediggers who are burying God? Do we smell nothing as yet of the divine decomposition? Gods, too, decompose. God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him.
"How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it? There has never been a greater deed; and whoever is born after us---for the sake of this deed he will belong to a higher history than all history hitherto."
Here the madman fell silent and looked again at his listeners; and they, too, were silent and stared at him in astonishment. At last he threw his lantern on the ground, and it broke into pieces and went out. "I have come too early," he said then; "my time is not yet. This tremendous event is still on its way, still wandering; it has not yet reached the ears of men. Lightning and thunder require time; the light of the stars requires time; deeds, though done, still require time to be seen and heard. This deed is still more distant from them than most distant stars---and yet they have done it themselves.
It has been related further that on the same day the madman forced his way into several churches and there struck up his requiem aeternam deo. Led out and called to account, he is said always to have replied nothing but: "What after all are these churches now if they are not the tombs and sepulchers of God?"

how come yuki nearly always streams with other people and you stream solo a lot?

I mean, this is basically a question about me and Yuki, but I have not extensively spoken to him about this. I'mma try to answer on his behalf since you sent this to my ask.fm? But really this is the sorta thing to ask us both ^_^ However as always I have a way-more-technical-answer-than-you-wanted.
I think it's a whole bunch of reasons, first of all. I don't think it's a single defining thing for either of us. But to start on him, with my lesser-informed opinions, first of all I think I'm right in saying he thinks his content is overall better with someone else there. Like it's not that every Yuki + someone stream/video is better than every solo-Yuki video but like on average I think he prefers that. I might be wrong but I think I recall him saying that he thinks he is better with someone to bounce off of. So that's part of it. Another part of it is that he has pals over his house quite a lot (in particular PiercedPagan), and his mic does okay at capturing multiple voices, so he has that going for him. That's like the 'positive' side of it. As someone who streams with him, it definitely feels like he is more comfortable when he has someone to talk to. And he is happy to do the bulk of the 'presenting' if you will. Like if you look at when him & I do pokemon, or yugioh, or tf2, or anything that's not a party game, he talks WAY more than me. Which isn't a complaint at all, he just becomes better at commentating his game when he is directly telling it to someone else, and I tend to go quite quiet in some streams. I've talked about being 'trampled' before and this isn't what it is, it's more just that if you have a group, I think Yuki 'leads' it quite well (for this reason I think he's a better 'host' of a stream group than me, like if the objective would be to see who's better at streaming a single player game and having guests to talk I think he's probably better than me) but it leads nicely into why I like streaming solo a lot
When I stream with other folks, I go very 'lighthousey' in that I often keep quiet for a fairly long time or have minimal input until I have what I think is a killer joke or can say something to help the other person's commentary. It's not a nerves thing, honestly more than anything with the people I stream with I am just happy to listen to them a lot. Which is why I think I am a better 'supporting cast' person than Yuki, like if you were streaming a game and wanted someone to co-commentate I think I am better at that. The problem is the way I do it is very other-person-based so if I am streaming, my viewers don't get to see the actual me a lot, which is a problem because I think streaming is almost entirely about the personality of the streamer/s. I'm also a bit of a megalomaniac and I like being able to control everything, so in that sense being the only voice in my stream is real nice.

what is your favorite youtube channel?

Right now it is probably Goldvision. It doesn't feel like there are many people who creatively drive gaming content forward, to take it to places which are better than they currently are, but Goldvision does. The production quality and the sheer... difference, of him compared to other content producers I've seen is staggering. I've not seen anything close to it. It has this blackadder-ish quality to it where at a superficial level is incredibly absurdist and obviously the humour derives from that but if you look deeper it feels like there is an ideological motivation behind it all. And I don't mean the GTA Pacifist stuff means 'be a pacifist', it feels more about pushing limits of how we see gaming, escaping stereotypes and putting an artistic flair on youtube gaming content in the same way you see artistic flair in other art forms all the time. Because yes, controversially, I think video making is an art form, even when it's for youtube.

what is your opinion on smash summit, melee hell and kage?

I think it was hella unfair if you are from somewhere which is not America due to the time which voting ended/the accruement of free votes for Americans. I disagree with the Leffen train of thought that people shouldn't do 'gimmicks' to get votes - of course they should do gimmicks, it's a popularity contest! Leffen mistakenly thinks that this is an uber serious tournament to see who is the best. It is not. The top 10 were invited to guarantee there would be good matches. Smash summit is about publicising melee, getting to know the players, and things like that. It's about seeing how personalities mesh together.
I do not give a damn about melee hell. They look kinda trashy but at the same time there's nothing wrong with being trashy, they don't seem to be hurting anyone. If you are into that kinda humour then neato
I love Kage. Not just coz of Ganon but I think he has some very interesting and wise perspectives on the game. Don't get me wrong he says dumb things too sometimes, but don't we all? I very briefly beefed with him over twitter actually and he's pretty down to Earth. I told him he mainly got in because people love Ganon and he is super happy to admit that, which is good. I think other people in his situation wouldn't be so humble. I am also happy he got in because he's from Canada, and without him America would be the only country people voted in (as well as one of only two countries total, Armada/Leffen ofc representing Sweden) which I don't think looks amazing for the smash scene.
If you wanted my top 6 picks, I would want:
SFat (super chill homie who is fun to listen to, ALSO brings a huge doubles game to complete the PewFat team)
Android (also brings a huge doubles game as the game's only real 'doubles specialist', also some more non-Americans even if it is another Swede)
Kage (character diversity, nationality diversity, one of the people I'd look forward to being interviewed most)
Vish (amazingly underrated commentary, can give insight into the commentary scene, one of the most personable smashers in terms of on-screen persona, would be interesting to get someone who is not primarily known for their actual play in the summit)
Ice (Ice is undeniably one of the top players in the world but he is so hard to gauge right now, I am seriously of the opinion that he chokes in most of his tournies, I think something less competitively-minded like the summit would be the perfect demonstration for him, also some country diversity)
Tekk (not only character diversity with Jiggs, but also Jiggs diversity in that his Jiggs is so vastly different from anyone else's at his level. I think it would be great to dispel all of the Jigglypuff myths like how easy she is to play despite there only being one consistently high level puff in the last half-decade and again the boost it'd give for smash europe is huge)
I actually have more to say but I hit character limit LOL

are you gonna get jackbox 2?

I am super undecided! On the one hand that sound game looks really terrible and I am not convinced on the two new games, but on the other hand I really dig fibbage and quiplash. I think JPP really shot themselves in the foot by not including Drawful. I think regardless of which you prefer out of Quiplash/Fibbage/Drawful (The games normally held to be the best Jackbox games), it's hard to argue against Drawful being the most REPLAYABLE. And that's like a huge selling point to me.
HOWEVER I have a December birthday and Christmas is in December and steam winter sales are in December so I honestly cannot rule it out

if you, yuki, piercedpagan and agent all fought to the death, who would win?

Idk, it depends how we're doing it.
If you mean straight up combat, I think I might actually win. Like my main obstacle is I am overweight (working on it tho) so in a smaller enclosed arena I think I could do it. However I think Agent is not a bad call either simply because he has the size advantage over Yuki IRL, he's the most athletic of us 4 which counts for a fair bit and he's possibly the strongest? I only think I could win because I think Sam lacks the sorta savagery you need for that kind of combat, I think just coz of his emotions and guilt he would have a way harder time killing than I would
If you are talking more of a hunger games survival I don't see any way Yuki is not gonna win. He is super good at notsleeping, he is super good at surviving on really basic foods and he is really into zombie survival, which is not the exact same thing but it means he probably knows a thing or two about basic survival. Also with the area of England he lives in he is super used to shitty living conditions LOL. Honestly I am not convinced that Agent/PiercedPagan/Me could win in a 3 vs 1 in this format
Luckily I don't even wanna kill most of these people so it's fine. This question becomes HELLA more interesting when you add some of my other pals like TobyTechs, Train and Jordan to the mix though

why don't you use hitbox? it is so much better

Stubbornness
Lol that is actually part of why, but also I think twitch just has a bigger viewership right now, it feels easier to look through, etc. I wish I was using hitbox when I do audience interaction stuff because it has reduced delay, and given that's a fairly sizeable part of my shtick I've considered the switch. However at the moment I think hitbox's main advantage is the ad revenue thing for making money, and while that's kinda neat the money is less of a factor for me

what is your favorite twitch channel?

I don't yet watch a tonne of twitch so I'mma say twitch.tv/vgbootcamp as they stream a lot of the melee I watch. Gimz always winz

what games do you want right now?

Bloodborne but I have no way to play it saaaadfaaaaace
Serious answers:
Keep talking and nobody explodes
INK
Choice chamber (once I have a decent twitch following)
Shovel Knight
Plague inc evolved
The Sims 3 on STEAM (I have it on console)

who do you play in melee? how good are you?

I play Captain Falcon as my main even though I have two characters I am better with. I am better with Falco (he was my main for like 14 years-ish) and I am better with Jigglypuff who I dislike playing (in both melee and brawl I have a character I hate playing as who is one of my best LOL)
