CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!! Lol, I see what you mean. I don't know if I would call it a tradition but everyone just goes shopping and gets what they need (Note: NEED not WANT but it can overlap). So we avoid the 'unwanted gift' scenario. I wish we would go over to someone's house, we're always hosting. :C

Hahaha, I get you. I think it's becoming like that with my family now. Now that my brother and I have passed the age of Christmas presents being a necessity, we don't exactly know what we want anymore so we are satisfied with getting nothing. Though now, we share the same want for clothes, so my dad will probably just give us an allowance and let us go wild. My house doesn't have the space for visitors (it can barely fit us four haha) so we go to other's houses, though this year we might not it seems.

Haha. At least you have gifts. We don't buy each other presents, we just do the Christmas lunch.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
WE FOUND TINSEL I REPEAT WE FOUND TINSEL. We just draped it around the TV stand haha. Our Christmas presents this year, though, are things my brother needs for high school and me for university so it is what we want but not what we want if you catch my drift. Has it always been a family tradition of yours to not buy presents? We might go to a friends' house for a Christmas lunch too (because we are lazy like that.)

I know, I know xP That's so cool that you have a contact though. So yesterday, my family was finally christmas-ing and we put up the tree and lights and we're all festive like. How're your Christmas decorations coming along.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
Haha.... Well, we don't know where our Christmas tree is, much less the decorations for the tree and the house. Knowing my family, we will just leave it and refuse to allow people to come over. Also, we will just pile the gifts in an empty corner haha.
(I know it's really bad so you can judge us.)
(We are a pretty wack family haha.)

OMG ME TOO!!! I want to move to Norway and visit Finland. My friend and I, decide we're relocating to Norway once we finish studying.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
My aunt lives in Norway, I actually asked her to put in word for me at the university she works at (they only do English courses at masters and doctorate degree levels). I actually never thought of which of the four countries I would like to live in though. A friend of mine is obsessed with Iceland so maybe I'll visit them too. You and your friend are like the coolest people ever😉

Nigeria, SA and USA. I want to travel more though. You?

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho and Zimbabwe (but because of family haha,) I've never left Southern Africa. I also want to travel more, especially to the Scandinavian countries because I'm sort of obsessed with them haha.

I'm using the common application website and then some individual websites for some of the universities. South African applications are so much easier, is all I'm saying.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
Can I have a link to that site if you don't mind? (because I'm also trying to look for some overseas applications.) Which countries are you mainly applying to?

Black Friday in CT is so much more chill, like there wasn't much rampaging, but maybe its just where I went. I got a really good deal on a VR headset and then I got myself some headphones to match. I didn't see much clothes that I liked, I am a picky shopper. Now I'm doing overseas applications.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
This is when I wished I lived in CT, Joburg is too savage for my life (especially since that new Mall Of Africa opened in August, with Starbucks and the whole gang) I probably would've come back with so many clothes haha, at least you got a great deal on those things! Oh how are you applying? Is it on the university's website or via correspondents?

Haha that's exactly what happened. But my mum let me go black Friday shopping!!! Yay! and High school's finally over. It feels gooood😁

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
Yay for you! Did you get some good deals and not get hurt? Due to some things, my mom and I didn't go out for Black Friday and I'm glad we didn't because from what I hear, it was a rampage and chaotic at every store😓 YAY ITS OVER so what are you doing with your time now since you've finished?

Well my first few weeks were packed. Max 1 day off a week. But right now I've only written once for the past 2 weeks. I had a week, then I wrote Afrikaans P2, now I have another week. Then I write for the last 4 days of exams.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
I'VE FINISHED (well I finished last week wednesday and I was recovering from my life for a week but who cares?)
That seems like a reasonable timetable though, especially since they give you a well-deserved break after pounding you with so many exams at a time. I do wish I had a timetable like that, but knowing me, I will probably get bored in those two weeks and slack off studying haha :)

You can also hide notes in your uniform though so might as well allow blankets. Have you had any week-long breaks yet?

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
They do ask if you have notes on you but they never check haha. I had a week long break after my first exam of Ad Maths and I wrote Life Science Paper 1 but that is the only week-long break I've had. I usually have days in-between (a maximum of 3 off days per week.) How about you?

Our hall is the exact opposite. Its always cold so we're allowed to bring blankets. We had our valedictory breakfast at a restaurant on the beach. That's the last time I was at the beach.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
You are allowed to bring blankets? That's nice. The IEB doesn't allow us because they think we might be hiding crypt notes under it😒 I can imagine the scenery must have been spectacular! The closest we get to a beach is either a pond or lake 😂

Oh but they are. Its been scorching hot the past few days. Shame! y'all get summer rain ☔ it's literally just been beach weather not that I've gotten to enjoy it or anything 😂

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
It was pretty hot a few weeks ago (and it was horrible because the hall the matrics write in is usually hotter than the temperature outside) but now its just raining and raining and raining. At least you are having beach weather since you do live near the beach whereas I live in a landlocked province haha.

Lol. Too true. Maybe I'll donate them to some grade 11. My sisters too stubborn to use my books.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
Yeah I'm sure they will buy the books at a price. Poor sisters, they can't be that bad😂 by the way, how's the weather that side? It's been raining here so much over the last few weeks.

I can't wait to say NO MORE PHYSICS after tomorrow and put my books away on the bonfire pile.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
Hey at least save the world and recycle them😂 I have to keep some of my books for my younger brother but by the time he is in matric, they would've changed the syllabus again.

The titration calculations are the worst. They really are. I love organic too but there's so much to remember like reaction conditions.

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
Hmmmm... I guess so. The reaction calculations, I just wing it and usually get it right 😂 I just have to remember the generic names of the reactions and not the scientific ones because they really aren't strict about it (I think haha).

So I'm staring at my organic chem. notes. There's so much and that's just the one topic. I don't even want to think about Acids and Bases 😦

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
I LOVE ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. It's the best topic of Chemistry that the physics children in the grade do well in. Though Acids and Bases is not bad, I just hate the grade 12 side of it because we weren't taught it properly.

I just had a look at the Watty's profile message board and people don't seem too happy with the results. I agree that the list doesn't look very diverse but what can we do right?

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
I agree. A lot of the people who won last year won this year (though some deserve it) but the books lean towards a specific genre. I didn't see an award for the new writers, who started on Wattpad this year either. But you're right, we can't do anything about it ):

I know what you mean. That was me last week. My mum won't let me go shopping though :(

Benitaisme’s Profile PhotoBenita E ✔
I told my mom and she was fine with it surprisingly haha but we go shopping together though. Why don't you offer to go shopping with her together? That might work (:
