When you write a song, how does the rest of the band go about learning them? Do you sit down and teach the parts to them or something? I'm in a new band and ive wrote a couple of songs and I'm not sure how to teach the others how to play them

Either just record a quick video for them or just break down the parts for them. Play them slow.

Hi Ola? Have you ever watched Spongebob Squarepants? And what is your favourite tv-show? And finally I just want to say that Feared is awesome band and I wish that you come to Finland soon :D

Juho Salminen
I don't watch it but thanks a lot :)

Hey man i have a question for you, im starting to compose my own songs, right now its just scattered riffs put loosely together, but i really want to know if its a good idea to program my own drums using some random software or to have a friend who can play drums to make something for me, also which

Having a drummer to jam with is definitely more inspiring than sitting and clicking out midi notes. But there's nothing saying you can't create masterpieces on your own! But having a fellow musician to bounce ideas with.

Hi Ola, if i remember this right, in one of your videos about how you record music, you mentioned something about recording two similar guitar tracks and panning them left to right. Is this the same as making a stereo track where the 1st guitar is on the right channel and 2nd guitar on the left?

vic_polaris’s Profile Photovic polaris
well kinda, the important thing is that the guitars are two totally different takes.

Hey Ola ! Can you recommand me some great mic preamp (no too expansive) ? I was on a lot of forum but i can't decide myself. Last question, do you think that playing harder on your guitar is the best way to have a great tone? Thanks for making so helpful videos ! You look like a viking !!

If you just need one input then the Apogee One is a great choice!

Hi Ola, a very sissy-non metal question here! How come your guitars always look so great in your videos, they're perfect! Do you clean them before you film? Tack på förhand!

Video effects!

Hi Ola! I was thinking about getting a 7 string, Which one would you recommend me? I´m thinking about the RGD, or something around that pricepoint, but I´m not sure. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

scruptos
The RGD2127z is an awesome guitar for sure I can guarantee you that. OR you can wait for the Washburn Solar to come out!

Hi sir! I'm your follower from some years and finally got the chance to discuss with you. I've mainly 2 questions for you: - what about your Swedish heritage in your own music? Have you ever developed an interest in myths and cultural background of your country to match with your compositions, you k

Funny you mention that cause the next album is all about swedish folk heritage and myths. :D

my mixes sound overloaded and muddy. any general advices how to get transparency?

letranger
probably a frequency that's overloaded. Check with a EQ analyzer to see where there is a lot of stuff happening and try to cut around that frequency.

Greetings Ola, I've decided to get a MesaBoogie Mark V after lots of review, I'm a hobbyist, regarding the guitar, but I want that killer tone that the boogies achieve. For someone that's not a pro, would the combo version be enough or should I go for the 2x12 or 4x12, what's the main difference? th

Definitely get the head and buy a separate cab. It's going to be easier to carry around. The combos are heavy as F*!

Hi brOla! I have a pickup question. you know how a heavily distorted, low tuned guitar sounds when you split the coils? very percussive and punchy. are there any humbuckers that sound like that WITHOUT splitting the coils? I need that djenty effect without gain loss. thanks!

AndersKoloch’s Profile PhotoAnders Dryński
Not sure but a lot of humbuckers are splittable giving you an option to split/coil tap.

So after 13 years I'm finally looking at new P'ups for my Ibanez. After some looking I know it's a basswood body. I was thinking SD Blackwinters or Distortions, but i'm just not sure and I don't want to make a bad purchase. I mainly record DI with a POD HD Pro into Reason 7. THNX!

William Hurst Jr.
I haven't tried Black Winters in a basswood body but I wouldn't think that it would be a bad match. I know Distortion sound good in basswood and the black winters are kinda like a super duncan distortion.

Hey, you've done LOTS of amp testing, and I want to thank you IMMENSELY for that! However, you still don't have a review of an Egnater amp! Can you do the Egnater Vengeance and/or Armageddon?! Thanks!!

Dan Stollings
Thanks buddy, I would love to do the Armageddon, but they never manage to get them out in Sweden. Probably no Egnater distributor around.

Hey, I'm in the market for a new 7, and I love extended scales, Duncans, badassery, and paying a grand or less... Should I wait for your Washburns to come out?

Devric Devereaux
You should definitely wait for the Washburn Solar! :)
