We both excell at certain things, I am a lot faster than him and more accurate, he on the other hand is more consistent and has much better aim and read, its the matter of our playstyles, which are completely different, as I am playing mostly on double time and he plays on long songs with high levels of aim that are hard to keep combos on.

Actually its not that hard to pass once you understand how to follow the streams.
The hp drain isnt that high on the map so even if you can't stream 222 bpm you can still pass the map, all you need to know is the fact that if you stream lower than 222bpm you need to move your cursor a little bit backwards on the stream so you will hit most of the notes and wont skip them.
if you still have issues passing I suggest start practicing streams I find the most fun thing in osu, others think otherwise.
