how do i beat fox as rob or atleast get better at fighting fox.

Shield is a good friend in this MU. If you shield the right moves, you get free punishes. Any smashes, down air, dashattack all fall under this. I think having a gyro on the ground helps here. Even despite his shine. Keep Fox off the stage will well placed gyros, fairs, bairs and spikes. And if you're in a jab combo, i like to di up and away while spamming up b to make things less painful. Try to stay as quick as him too. Your reaction must be on point.

who do you think is the best ROB you have played?

In Brawl, OCEAN (played him at APEX 2012)
In Smash 4: offline would be Chibo. Online would be Raffi-X (followed by Miidas, Gyo, Wiigi and I'm sure a few others)

Who do you think is the best in Sm4sh?

Not sure if you mean person or char.
Character: Sheik
Person: Zero

What are your major goals in life?

To find a way to make a living while helping, entertaining, and educating people.

Why is your main R.O.B and has it always been him? What about other games.

This ended up being more detailed than I thought it would be. Enjoy.
I didn't think much about robots before I first saw R.O.B. I got hands on a Japanese gameplay video (via YouTube) of Brawl before it was released in the U.S. and it happened to have ROB in a FFA match. I can't explain my interest in him other than he just looked absolutely adorable. He was awkward and made no sense in a Smash game to me. But I loved that. Yeah...I kinda fell in love with him. Kinda reminded me of myself lol. I never felt like I belonged where I grew up, kinda awkward, etc. I didn't care if he wasn't good in Brawl. We made it work. I realized that if you absolutely love the character you play, then you can make great things happen with it. ROB allows me to express myself. He can also be a hype train, and I love entertaining people. So if I can win while making people happy (priority), then I can't lose. I also want to stand as an example that if you put the time, effort and passion into something, you can achieve great results. You asked me a very personal question lol. Something I care a lot about. Thank you for that.
p.s. I play ROB in PM as well. So all games that he's in.

Best cereal? ... choose wisely

I haven't had a lot of different cereals, but growing up i was obsessed with Cinnamon Toast Crunch

What do you think are the top 5 most unexplored characters right now?

Wii Fit - I've been seeing a a few WFT. They young af tho. And altho they are still a work in progress, it scares me to imagine what a true mastery of this character looks like.
Metaknight - Ppl wrote this guy off based on his Brawl iteration in comparison to now. Yes, his moves aren't as fluid as in Brawl. But you'd be surprised as to what strings together. And I think he's technically faster now, either in the air or on the ground or both. I don't remember.
Peach - I thought Peach had a ton of potential in Brawl and I still feel the same. I think she's going to be one of the most technical chars in the game like before, and if "mastered" could be a very scary character to deal with.
Shulk - Monado boys. Seriously, this character has so many options. I just think that the combination of styles this char has opens the door to a vast number of possibilities.
Lucario - Ew. Why are ppl not abusing this char? Did he get nerfed? Am I missing something? His mechanics are brutal to think about.

I was having trouble with Shiek and Mario too. Is there any secondary I could pick up to beat them? Does shiek have any bad matchups at all? lmao

I hear some Sheiks complain about Mario. But that won't help you vs Mario lol. I'm very curious about Ryu. I think he might have potential in both of those MUs tbh. I can't wait to see Ryu in the right hands. I also dread that day when I have to verse it.

What do you think about Sonic vs ROB?

I don't quite understand it yet. I know I have a lack of character knowledge. I need to just play as him to completely understand all of his options and the way his moves hit.
As of now I really don't enjoy play Sonics. I do about the same against really good Sonics and really bad Sonics. I just keep active moves out and keep guessing and I don't like that. I want a handle on this MU so that I don't dread it every time I approach it. My guess about the actual MU is that it's prob close to even. Just not fun for me atm lol.

What is something that is "uncool" that you do anyway?

I can be pretty girly sometimes. not sure if it's frowned upon or not. nor do I care. it's just funny bc a lot of ppl think I'm gay.

When you have time , could you explain ROB's combos with/ without the gyro and the inputs and the % where it will work. Frame traps and traps in general and how to win with ROB :)

Traps:
Learn yo gyro setups. Learn how to bait. Spooking someone into thinking you're going to perform an action and making them airdodge or roll can be sooooo profitable. Look at your %s and realize when they will probably be most scared. Capitalize on this. Actual setups can include gyro to up smash. Gyro to spike. These can cover rolls dodges, etc. A nice trap is nair > fair > dair (or footstool dair). After the forward air, you're moving forward with your opponent and they might think another hit will be coming. But they're off the stage so they decide to hold towards the stage and dodge that upcoming hit. This is when you spike instead, it can eat through the dodge.
How to win:
Learn all of your tools. Learn all that you can. Have fun. Stay positive. Find a love for the game.
My motto is "Play to learn, winning comes with it." I touch up on the idea in a previous ask.fm question. Here's an excerpt from that:
"LEARNING is soooo important in this game. In anything really. Play to learn. Live to learn. Winning comes with learning. Don't measure your progress by results. If you do something right, learn. Something wrong, learn. Win or lose, always focus on learning. Everyone is different in this. We all have unique styles of learning. Find yours. Keep believing you'll find it. Play with confidence. You think you're trash? I think I'm trash but not in a negative way. I look at it as I have a long way to go still, and I find that motivating. Think in ways that motivate YOU. It's a journey. A frustrating journey. And a fun journey if you let it be."

Ever think of going to the UK? If yes you should try a tourney here ! :D You might win.

Would love to visit. Not to win. But to experience the UK and meet awesome people.
Idk if I can with my current job. But if I'm ever able to stream and smash full time (long shot, but I'm going for it), I will def make travels like this.

Why is Wavez a fraud?

Because he can't tell the difference between green and yellow ROB.
nah Wavez is cool and has a lot of potential.

What happens if I practice Smash 4 for years and years and never get good at it? I'm afraid that that might happen. ;^; I'm such trash.

It's a scary thought but it very well may happen. I noticed this was a problem with people the first time in my life when I grew up playing pool/billiards. My dad, played his whole life. Even with 20 yrs under his belt, it only took about a year of serious effort to surpass him. And before I knew it, I was winning tournaments that he never could. I then began experiencing this myself with Brawl back in 2009. I was a year in and I began feeling like I was stuck. I would always get the same results and sometimes I was even doing worse. It sucked and I wasn't having fun with ROB anymore. I was getting to the point where I couldn't fathom there being more for me to learn. I felt like I had maxed out my potential.
So what was the problem?
With Smash, I just couldn't seem to broaden my capacity of thinking. What I mean is, I never got creative with my options, I didn't know how to read my opponents, And the kit that I thought ROB had seemed very limited to me. When I found out that b-reversals were a thing after seeing OCEAN do it, I gained a whole new level of interest. It was an advanced technique (AT) that, once mastered, I was able to express my style in a whole new way. People loved watching me. My ROB looked fun and felt fun. And that opened a door for me to improve. With my newly found interest, I finally figured out how to learn to how to learn. Read that statement one more time if it doesn't make sense. Because learning how to learn is a key element in anything competitive. With pool, it just clicked with me. It never did with my father. He kept playing the same way, never adjusting, never trying new options and learning from them, etc. I was different, I couldn't stop thinking about what I did right and wrong nor could I stop thinking about a multitude of possibilities I had in different scenarios.
LEARNING is soooo important in this game. And a fun journey if you let it be.
We all struggle. You're not alone =]
Best of luck to you.

What is the most unexpected thing that happened to you this week?

Having the entire crowd cheering "ROBSquad! ROBSquad!" this past weekend. I can't stop thinking about it.

What time are you streaming today (monday) tomorrow and wednesday? :D Any changes to plans? and where did you com overall in the tourney ! Any videos? Also which of the 3 new characters and 2 stages do you like / dislike, what are your fav moves? :D

STREAMING PLANS:
My schedule has been suffering b/c of life lately.
Last night (Monday) I streamed from 9:30 pm - 12:30 (EST)
Wed will probably be on time (8:30 - midnight)
Can't do Friday this week because I'll be driving home after work to visit my family.
Hope to have a view bot up soon. I have a buddy helping me set one up, but I might use someone else's in the meantime. Oh, I have a rough draft of my new overlay! Gotta pull that out soon :D
TOURNAMENT RESULTS
At Smash'N'Splash I got 5th/182~ losing in the top 16 bracket to Wizzrobe (3rd place) and Ally (1st place). You can watch the VODs on www.twitch.tv/clashtournaments (past broadcasts) or you can look out for them when they get uploaded (some were hype!).
NEW DLC
I really like Ryu. I didn't know if I would. I was hype for Roy but I'm not sure how I feel about him atm. But Ryu, man, what an awesome addition/idea. Watch ROB get bodied by him lol. I love the mii verse and dreamland stages. and the omega SF stage. All are very nice. My new favorite moves are Ryu's everything. Esp his tilts. I love how fast Roy is, I just wish he landed laglessly.

How did you do in the tourney? I was camping :C

tourney isn't over yet! I got 1st seed in my pool yesterday tho

Hai :3 Do you ever think you might stream a little earlier? It's hard to catch your streams as they start 1:30 am on weekdays BibleThump I try to tho

I'm very sorry to hear that D:
With my current job, I don't get home until 6:30 pm EST and I'm usually travelling on the weekend. My best day for you would be a Sunday. But it will be two weeks before I can stream on a Sunday. If I ever make it anywhere with streaming, and I can quit my job, I will make certain that I stream during a time that is better for you.

So there are four ways to fire a lazer in the air. 1: Fire it 2: Flick joystick other direction and press B 3: Press B and press joystick other direction 4: Flick joystick other direction and press B then press B and press joystick other direction How does one use these options to their advantage?

Excellent question.
...but tricky!
It's nice that you acknowledge that there are 4 different ways to implement a simple laser. How you use it depends entirely on the situation. I'll section this off by your numbering scheme:
1.) Simply firing a laser should be use when you don't need to create any more space between you and your opponent. For example, they are already far away. Or you don't see yourself being punished for simply firing a neutral B.
2.) This one is my most used. Why? Because running being able to flee or be in one direction and then turn around and laser and a VERY handy tool. Never forget that. Use your gyro in the same light. Creating space while in the air and being able to quickly turn around and fire a laser...so valuable.
3.) The best use for this one is for grounded lasers. I have the same reasoning for this as I had with # 2, except the input for #2 won't work while grounded. Now, you can use this one in the air as well in order to close a gap between you and your opponent. You can also use this as a fake out method. What I mean is, you can have your back facing your opponent (while in the air) and you can be coming towards them. If you hit B and the opposite direction you're facing, you will turn around to face them, bounce away from them, and fire the laser. So your opponent thinks you'll be in melee range, and you can slip right out of it with this maneuver.
4.) This one is technically a wavebounce. So if you ever hear the term, now you know (in case you didn't already). This can be used like 2 and 3 to create or close space. It can be used to juke shield drops like mentioned at the end of #3 by bouncing right out of their range. You don't see 3 and 4 used often, but the more you commit these techs to muscle memory, the more you will have it down to play with possibilities for it.
Keep in mind that all of this applies to gyro as well. Just with a little different input. Same applications tho. Except with the gyro, you can cancel it as well, creating you a lot more options!

Would you ever do R.O.B lessons?

Absolutely. The real question is to how to go about it. I think I'd like to start off with some general guides first. But if you're meaning 1 on 1 lessons, then I'd definitely fancy that in the future.

Is there anything you can do today that you couldn't a year ago? What?

I couldn't reach out to smashers a year ago like I can now.

What would you most like to do if money were no object?

I always love helping and entertaining people. At the moment, my outlet for that is Smash. I'm sure it will change as I grow older.

What are R.O.B.s worst matchups and what is good secondary to counter them.

Jearbear357
Sheik, mii brawler, Pika, sonic (maybe), mario.
counters = whatever you think counters sheik. whichever that is, I'm sure could handle the rest.

what's your least favorite matchup for ROB?

With customs, Mii Brawler (UGGGGGGGGGH). Without...Sonic, Sheik, Pika, or Mario. Prob Sanik

What is gyro spiking? How is it pulled off?

It involves a ledge get up scenario. If your opponent is off the ledge and you have a gyro in your hand, then you can attempt a gyro spike.
The most basic form of gyro spike is to jump and throw the gyro down right where your opponent would be able to ledge getup, getup attack, and possible even ledge jump. Make sure you're facing away from the stage when you throw the gyro down because the direction you're facing when throwing the gyro will send your opponent in that same direction. Not sure what I mean by this? Then go to a stage with a wall, bounce a gyro off a wall and have it hit your opponent beside you. Your opponent will come to you instead of being knocked away (which is what you would assume would happen because of natural physics). Anywho, when the opponent decides to do a getup, ledge attack, or possibly a ledge jump (still testing) if you placed the gyro well, he will be knocked back off the stage. So have your booty ready and spike him!
Now you can space a gyro to where it covers a roll option, but the gyro might not knock him off the stage until higher %s. So be mindful of that.
Lastly, if you decide to go off the stage against your opp while having a gyro in your hand, you can throw the gyro down and then go to the right or left as needed and spike him there if you hit him as well.
Hope this helps!

Why did you decide to main ROB during the age of Brawl and why do you still main him, gyro spiking nintendo characters to this very day?

Before Brawl, I had no idea who ROB was besides a random char in Mario Kart DS. I first fell in love with him the day I saw a Japanese gameplay video of Brawl that had ROB in it in a free for all. He was absolutely adorable to me. It was a robot in Smash that beat people up. I was all in at that point. Unfortunately, ROB turned out to not be so good in Brawl. But I felt so attached to him and I L-O-V-E-D the enjoyment I brought to others by innovative playstyle that was never really common for a ROB main. When Smash 4 announced ROB, I was scared. Would I still feel soul bound to the character? Would he be even worse? I take competition seriously so I really hoping he wasn't. At first, I thought he was when I first got my hands on him. He felt so weird to me. Eventually I got over that and realized that he's better than I first thought. I just have to play him different. Alas, here I am today. Gyrospiking, #ROBSquading, etc. ([^_-]
