If you could go back and give your 15 year old self a heads up on live, what would you tell them?

origamibirds’s Profile Phototea.
Work harder at school & be more confident.
(Advice that sadly would have been ignored-I don't know whether I was lazy or just didn't take seriously the idea that I could achieve anything, or both).
Unfortunately my cousin is doing what I did, but worse, and I don't know what to say to her that she would pay attention to?

Name two or more actors that you always mix up or can't tell apart? For example, I always think Piper Perabo is Haylie Duff.

Not a celebrity but my CEO looks uncannily like Tom Watson, and I see both of them so often that confusion often reigns!
I won't post a picture of the CEO as I don't want people like Ben Isaacs knowing where I work, but it's uncanny and disturbing, especially when I'm trying to relax at home and Watson appears on tv.

What's easier for you- wake up earlier and finish doing things or don't sleep all night and wake up later?

I'm an early to bed, early to rise sort of person as you can see from the fact that I'm responding to a question at 7.50 on a Sunday :)
I know there are different types of person based on what type of day they prefer, and it says a lot about someone. I'm very much a morning person myself and I'm going cycling then heading out to Calke Abbey for a visit. By the evening I won't want to do anything though.

What's a name that you dislike? Not a person's name, but an object or thing. For example, I dislike the name "oyster mushrooms" because at first glance I tend to think that they contain oysters or fish oil.

I dislike Marvin being called the paranoid android because, although it's a nice rhyme, he isn't paranoid (and he isn't manic-depressive as is often said).

It used to be that witty rabbit would do the asking of this periodically, but since she's not here anymore I guess I'll take it up this time. What questions do you like getting lately? What topics are most interesting to you here?

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
Yes, I miss Witty Rabbit though I gather she just didn't want to be part of this site any more due to trolling.
I welcome all questions, the questions asked by @urlsareshittbh are especially thought-provoking. I can't think of any specific topic I like to cover but I can say I'm looking forward to my journey here today.

So I will share my findings when I'm back.

What was the last thing to make you roll your eyes??

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
Bellend called Jim Shannon talking a load of outrageous shite on the radio.
I wish I could just laugh but he and his kind are threatening to take me down with them.

How are you?

StephenInd’s Profile PhotoStephen Ind
I'm good thanks, I'm somewhat bored as I am saving money for things I will do in April and May, but I look forward to those things, most of all going to Poland at Easter.
I'm going to Torun, where my granddad came from, though World War 2 and Stalin brought him to Britain where he lived until he died (before I was born). So you could say this is a honecoming and I may be distantly related to some folk here, but I've never met any of them.
It will be good taking part in a traditinal Polish Easter with parades through the streets and so on.

what inspires your art

David Hockney is the mainstay of my art.
https://www.1843magazine.com/upfront/the-1843-interview/smoking-with-david-hockney
In 2011 I saw some bluebells and thought it was a shame I didn't have a camera to capture them, so I got a camera but lacked any clear idea what to do with the pictures I took.
Then in 2012 I saw a programme on Countryfile about this exhibition Hockney did.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hockney:_A_Bigger_Picture
I decided this was interesting and I might buy the book as a present for my mum, so I took it out of the library. This scheme was foiled when my mum saw me reading the book and asked about it, so it couldn't be bought as a present.
Soon I started my calendars and blog.
http://dry-valleys.tumblr.com/tagged/photos
And I was launched!
So while the creativity was inside me, after years of being badly "taught" by art teachers and generally being disparaged by myself and others, it took the inspiration of Hockney to unleash it; though he probably wouldn't like my blog much (“the idea that a photograph is the ultimate depiction of reality is absolutely bonkers!”) he is still the main inspiration for it anyway and I herald him as such.

Have you ever had a weird dream that you could never forget and it still haunts you when you remember it?

Yes, I once dreamt that one of my co-workers was fulminating against the person who sits next to him, telling me how much he hates this person, wishes he'd never started work there, and so on.
The next day I was wary around Dave* as I feared he might start shouting abuse at Pete* or even physically attack him, such was the hatred he felt, until it gradually occurred to me that the whole incident had only happened in my head!

What does it mean when a girl smiles at a boy??

It could mean that she is being friendly, or polite, or that he has been looking at her too much and she is embarrassed.
It could mean that she is attracted to him but beware of assuming this as it probably doesn't and one should never make such assumptions.
This is a bit of a general question which is hard to answer without knowing the situation?

what's the weirdest flavor candy you like? I bought some ginger lemon haribo today is it's very good

shehitsback’s Profile PhotoAllison
I don't know if it's weird but I'm all about these lately.
https://www.britishcornershop.co.uk/foxs-glacier-dark-price-marked
Their taste is vaguely akin to that of a flaming sambuca, but in a nice way, and they have a really powerful but subtle flavour.
Unsure what I'd make of a ginger lemon haribo as I've never seen one and I try to limit my sweet intake anyway, but it sounds like something I'd consider.

Do you think Michael Jackson is guilty or innocent?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
Guilty as sin, though it's a shame he wasn't tried and imprisoned when alive as his actions (like Jimmy Saville's) are those of one who deems himself above the law, an attitude which the lawmakers seem to encourage.
I am disgusted by those who sneer that the victims didn't come forward when he was alive so their testimony has less weight. They were too scared obviously, of not being believed, of facing the propaganda machine, but most of all of going back to that helplessness in the face of a determined & manipulative child molester.
I recall being a child, I wasn't abused but I can imagine the terror of coming forward, which I probably wouldn't have done for the above reasons. If you can't understand why people are hesitant about describing abuse that happened to them you're not doing very well as a human being.

What was the first novel on which you spent your money on??

The first book I chose to buy was Sharpe's Company by Bernard Cornwell, when I was 12, a wise choice as it's excellent.
I then collected all the Sharpe books and films and everything else by the master storyteller, who of course is also the creator of Uhtred of Bebbanburg, whose escapades have been on TV as The Last Kingdom.

Even though our alphabets are vastly different, I get many people speaking Russian and Arabic on my page. What foreign languages do you get questions typed in the most?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
I don't get such questions, although I'd welcome them. If people don't mind a response from google translate that is, as I sadly won't understand the original.

Struggle with emotion Fell the pain burn deep Within our nerves The mourning of lost life Commands our action night and day The foul realism is unleashed Upon the Earth we'll bleed Banish all fond memories As the Lord Beckons us to judgement Degeneration is close at hand

Would you rather day someone who's not on any social media and has no interest in it, someone who is on social media but only posts sporadically and mentions you once in a while, or someone who spends a lot of time on social media and posts frequently including posts with you in them. Why?

urlsareshittbh’s Profile Photourlsareshittbh
I already date someone who isn't on social media, I think it's best she doesn't know that I'm secretly married* to Nadine Coyle :)
While it can be good to be interlinked with each other online and offline we prefer to give each other space; we don't have any plans to live together or anything, but greatly enjoy our visits.
