i don't really think that people's happiness is completely independent of what's going on in their life. i think that you definitely shouldn't depend on just one thing for your happiness, but i don't believe it is possible to not depend on something to be happy.

depends on if it's a quick hug, how well she knows them & why it happens. long hug for no reason is eh. but i think it's fair to say if she's known someone for a long time & something tragic happens then it's okay for like, a 5 mississippi hug to happen. i personally wouldn't be comfortable with that but i think that is fair. short hugs are fine i guess.
