I really want to work with artists, but im thinking About this : if a artist want a beat, what should i sent him ? A snippet of beats of just the full beat ? I really don't want to make a mistake in that.

I'd send snippets. Especially if I don't know them. But if I'm sending beats to an A&R from a record label then I'm most likely to send them the full beat only cause most of the time when they play beats for artists they are in the studio ready to write and record.

If I buy a producer tag from you and I dont like the way you said/pronounced my name would you re do it?

Of course. It's not your fault if we say your name wrong. That's on the house.

As a new music producer, would you rather give out a free beats to a specific artist to, or start selling the beats to anyone?

Most times I give free beats out to artist I personally know and love working with. Some of them could be close friends. But outside of that I normally charge everyone else for beats.

How did you FIRST get major placement, and how did you get yourself in that position?

Well I didn't get myself in that position alone. Long story short, Waka's mom herd music from this group that I produced for called One Thurd and wanted to meet them. I traveled with them everywhere they went to perform and while we was in Atlanta she wanted to meet them and when we met up, we all met and she met me. From there was when we started working together and she wanted to sign me and from there I started meeting new people and working with different artists.

What's your favorite kind of genre to produce that isn't hip hop?

illuminatedrec’s Profile PhotoTyler stokes
I like doing electronic pop music or rave. They're very fun to do cause a lot of it is so energetic.

Gotta ask, You lay out drums or your melody first? or does it just depend?

I like to start with my instruments first and then drums. Though it has been times where I have started with my drums/percussion sounds first. Sometimes when you're trying to get a complete different feel / sound for a beat, it might be a good idea to start with your drums first, then build everything else around from there.

my 808 never really fits in the mix and i dont know how to compress it to make it sound clean, are there some main tips you could give me ?

Make sure you pan all of your sounds. You can keep your 808 centered but your mix will sound a lot cleaner if you pan all of your sounds. Make sure the levels of your sounds are at the appropriate dB level also

Are you apart from 808 mafia right know? I aint sure about that but i saw you and southside tweeting some shit to eachother and it wasn't positive. Can you or do you want to explain that please ?

Unfortunately no I'm not anymore. All of that really started from miscommunication. No love lost though.

Key to becoming a successful producer

Staying in your own lane of music. Be consistent. Make and keep good relationships. Don't do what everyone else is doing.

How long have you been producing music and what inspired you to produce instead of rapping?

9 years now. Making beats was something that I've always wanted to do. No one was necessarily an inspiration to me to start making beats.

how long does it take for you to make a beat?

45mins to an hour. .. that's mixed and sequenced also. Sometimes if I'm really trying to do something different it can take a lil longer.
