Hi Josie, Is it normal for a cat to stand at his bowl and meow out loud? He does it all the time now, even when the bowl is fresh. He only does it before he has a drink, not during or after. He always walks around meowing loudly too until I call for him.

That is a hard question to answer. Only because it could be due to several things. Of course we hope it is nothing medicinal that makes him hurting when he needs fluids/is dehydrated.
It could also be an association related thing where he has experienced something connected to water. I don’t know of his background but if he ever was a stray cat, it could be a natural instinct as they are very vulnerable when they eat and drink.
As long as he is fine otherwise I wouldn’t be worried, though 😊

Most of the time my cat (8 year old male) will only eat if I am watching him. It's not a big issue and he gets enough to eat but just curious about why it might be!

That is kinda sweet of him 😍 But I think since he is a senior, that he feels more safe with you next to him and when they eat, they are most vulnerable to the surroundings and maybe there is something that you can’t hear or see that is making him slightly uneasy otherwise ❤️

Hey Josie, My female spayed cat won't stop pooping in front of the trays, even when they're fresh. She only pees in the bath or in an empty tray too and I have tried different litter types. We have 3 trays (2 Laege, 1 small) and 3 cats, no more room for any more. Any advice please? Thank you

Hi! I’m so sorry that you are experiencing this problem ❤️ I think you are looking for the problem in the wrong places. Sure, this could be because of the type of tray, type of litter, where it is located etc but I think you need to look elsewhere. Is this cat the only spayed of the 3 cats? If so, her rank might make her feel unsafe at home and is totally unrelated to the litter box but there is where she shows she needs help.

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear that ❤️ Eye problems are very serious and if you don’t trust your vet you should definitely try to get secpnd and third opinions.
I am specializing in behavioral problems so I can’t help you with this but I really do encourage you to reach out to more vets, I have had to do that many times and it has helped me in sotuations like yours 🙏🏼

Hi Josie. I have a neutered male cat, and a year or so he started spraying in the house. Mostly when I can’t let him out in the garden. How can I make him to stop doing it?!?

Hi! A male cat doing this even though he is neutered is most likely unhappy about something in his living situation. The spraying makes him feel safer as it has a familiar scent.
Is there cats roaming outside of your house/apartment/property? Has anything changed at home, anything at all? Both of these two has to do with this behavior and could be manage when you find the underlying problem ❤️

Hi! Actually this is one of the worst brand of food, any other would be better. If you can, try to find a wet food that is grainfree. If you have Bozita where you live I can highly recommend that :)

I adopted a 6mo kitten in December from a veterinary hospital.They said they spayed her and she had the shaved belly and scars to prove it, but 2 days ago she started rolling around the ground, howling and putting her hind in the air as if shes in heat and I think she is.Can you explain this at all?

They can still come in heat shortly after the operation and it is very common 😊 It will take a few months until the female is ”completely off the hormones”

I might do an investigation on her fertility and rule out those problems. That is where I am now and we’ll see what I decide for her later 😊💖

I will neuter him but I don’t know if I might put him on another chip first. It’s leaning towards that. I will not have a breeding male here anymore, I hope to maybe find homes to put males in and hire stud service 😊

Hye jossie! In front of my house got stray cats. Female cat and her kittens. Lately, the cat & her kitten catch a flu. But how to treat the kitten? Kitten around 3 weeks - 1 mth cannot get any medication right? So, what i have to do to stop their flu? Do i have to to treat their mother instead?

Oh lord... you need help from a vet with this one, even if I came with the best advice - you need a vet. If you can, see that the kittens get milk from their mother to strengthen their immune system ❤️

What is the best wet food brand among these all .. sheba , schesir , Applaws or gimcat ? ❣️

I have no experience with gim at, but I guess I would have to say Applaws because I think they are no added salt and sugar, like the others have

Hi Josie, I have another question about our cat. Sometimes he just randomly attacks me, just me and not my boyfriend. When he’s laying on my lap he starts to bite really hard and when I put him away, he starts jumping at me and biting. Also when he scratches the couch and I take him he does the same

How can I keep my cat save from catching a cold ? He's all the time inside the house but sneezed & may got a fever ?

If he is inside and not have any contact with other cats, it’s no worry of catching a cold. But if your cat has the cat flu or calici virus, you just have to do what you can to keep him stress free and that can help build a strong immune system to fight off the periods of sneezing

And another question how do you recognize that a cat feels lonely. We try and play and snuggle with him as much as he wants. And as far as we know when he was living on the street he didn't like other cats. I'm just really worried he feels lonely.

If he’s from the street, he is probably quite happy with whatever you do now. If you don’t see anything that makes you worried, then don’t worry. That is my best advice for you. A cat from the streets meed some time to adjust and only you as the guardian know when you and him are ready to maybe start changing his routines by adding a new cat to the mix or something else ❤️

Hey :) in Noevember we got a Siberian (probably mix) of the street. A real sweetheart. But we are still looking for the right comb for his fine fur. Can you recommend one? We want to help him with the shedding, cause he seems to have problems with hairballs (although he never threw up).

I can definitely recommend a metal comb in size ”medium” which means the space between the comb’s teeth. Not too big space because that would not remove any fur

Hi! This is very common and will most definitely slow down as they get older. Maybe find some interactive toys for him to use when he gets too hard on his sister. Separate them and he will soon get it 😊 Yes Zinna will be spayed 💜

Thank you for your answer. He rarely eats dry food(once a week now), he has his “special” crystal RC wet food(which he is nuts about). But I just can’t get him to eat chicken wings/neck or to drink more water

If he is eating mostly wet food he is getting a lot of water from there, that is great 😃 It can take a long time to get a cat to eat raw meat, but that is only because they don’t know it’s food so just keep trying and it will happen 😊

It has a lot of bad ingredients and I would not recommend to give that to your cat. And also it is still a dry food, which in it self is bad. It is good that you are looking for a grain free food! 😊 Check for high protein and no cereals, no corn, potato, veggies etc. Protein and fat is the most important 💖

Hi Josie, we have a Siberian of almost 2 years old. He’s amazing, however we think he might be missing a buddy. He takes stuffed animals and brings them to his food bowl like if he wants to feed them. What does this mean? Thank you

It is very common for cats to put stuff in their food bowls, and even if it might seem like he is pretending to have a buddy because it is a stuffed animal, it is not because of that he is doing it ☺️ Good theory, though! I find toys and hair ties in the bowls, in shoes and other unexpected places 😂

L-lysine has no documented effects for cats. It is said to make their immune system stronger and possible keep cat flu away but I can’t find any support for that. Best thing to keep a good immune system is to feed them good quality food and keep up with the vaccines 😊

Hi. I have a male cate with crystal problems. Can I give him sometime raw food(chicken breast or neck)? Or I should feed him only with his special food?!? Do you have any suggestions how to make him to drink more water?

More water is definitely the answer here! Can you try to start ease him over to only wet food? It might take some time but it will be worth it ❤️ Give wet food with some sprinkles of his favorite dry food. Even if you would switch to a special kind of food “for crystals” which is often dry food, you are still giving the type of food that is making these problems. Best of luck! 💖

Hi! This could happen when/if he feel threatened in some way. Maybe a new cat in the home or in the neighborhood? It is safe to say that a content cat does not do this out of the blue, you will have to start playing a detective and find out what is making him unsure of his surroundings ❤️
