so rip ctb pp algorithm in this imperfect version forever we hope some experieced ctb player can improve it on his own

As long as nobody steps up and does something, yeah, you're stuck with it.

Why does the SpunOut mod gives a penalty in the mania pp? Does that mod map to something in that mode, or is just a copy-paste of the standard code?

You can't use SpunOut with mania. So yes, most likely was just c&p. :p

I assume you made osuPerformance as it's in c++, so I'm going to tell this to you directly. Some of those mutexes will just break it if it's running on an empty database (you've never managed to get it to break as you've never encountered that issue lol)

It was never meant to work on an empty database. All it needed to do was to work on the official one without crashing, and with reasonable parallelization.

https://ask.fm/Tom94/answers/137147000270 Personally I don't agree with how it rates things, but I believe that rating things separately is the way forward, especially since the current pp system's flaw is that it favours players that focus on one skill only.

To be fair, under the hood pp also rates individual categories, just like osu!tp used to do. There was just no easy way to expose those additional categories and I never got around adding one. Feel free to do it yourself. The necessary programs are open source already (osu-web 2.0 and osu-performance).

I'm playing around with the pp processor source and how diff calc affects pp and I wanted something close to the current diff calc to start off. I tried looking into your osu!tp aimod however it seems like osu!sdk now requires some osu!common dependency which is not included. Am I missing something?

The osu!sdk doesn't really work anymore. We dropped support since nobody used it. Stable fallback might be worth a shot. Alternatively you could just load the hitobjects by yourself. It's a very simple program to write, and it's reasonably accurate if you treat sliders just as regular hitcircles.

What did you go through to travel to Israel? I'd like to go visit sometime but I've never travelled interlationally

All I needed to do was get a passport and book a flight. The family of my GF picked me up at the airport.

https://www.ask.fm/Tom94/answers/137131402958 Lol. Osuskills is so extremely flawed, its kinda funny people actually use it. Look at Randomizer/GN as see what's their best precision scores.

I didn't look into it in any way, so I can't give my personal opinion, but if many people use it that would suggest many people agree with its way of rating things. Really, the only way to meaningfully gauge the success of a ranking system is by looking at how the playerbase likes it. The entire reason tp eventually became pp is that practically every good player used it and thus created high demand for it.

If you're still on a break from tweaking PP, when do you expect you'll get back to doing it? With scorev2 sliders coming up, I think it might be an idea to at least be on the ready to fix something in case some new PP meta comes around or something.

With the amount of work I currently have I have pretty much 0 motivation to do pp-related stuff. Judging by how that didn't change in the past, I doubt it will in the future. I said it many times already: Except for minor fixed in case the system breaks spectatularily someone else will have to take over. :p

Difficulity spikes on maps is getting kind of riddiculus and is really overweighed? Wouldn't it be better to make it so that the pp is based on the avrage difficulity of the map rather than how it's now? Maps like kuchizuke Diamond or ora ora ora take it to the extreme. Maybe you don't agree?

I tried rating maps based on average difficulty once and it was really bad. Like... reeeeeally bad. You can get the AiMod difficulty calculator I once wrote from the osu! forums and experiment with it yourself if you'd like. :)

Opinion on taking note density into account when calculating star rating in an attempt to buff reading intensive maps and nerf what people call "hr farming" on lower bpm songs?

Note density is implicitly captured by the algorithm already. I suppose what you mean is looking at the amount of notes on the screen simultaneously. Probably worth looking into, probably also involves a ton of trial and error to find fair parameters.

Why did Cookiezis pp here get reduced? https://osu.ppy.sh/s/368985 He didn't fail and the map doesn't even HAVE a spinner... If this is the wrong place please link me a place to report bugs like this. Or, make a FAQ?

SpunOut reduces the pp you gain whether the map has spinners or not. This might change in the future, but for now you'll have to live with it. I agree it doesn't make much sense.
