hey Ola :) I've noticed in a few of your vids that you seem to know a couple of members of Meshuggah, the DAR amp demo for example, and without wanting to invade their or your privacy, whats you relationship with those guys? How'd you get to know them? Any chance of a feared/meshuggah tour? ;D

Never heard of them...

For music recording, mixing and production, do you prefer Mac or PC? What do you think are the pros and cons of each?

Camilink94’s Profile PhotoCamilink
Whatever works for you, I switched to Mac from being a PC elitist around 2002 mainly because I wanted to work with Logic. Since that I've never felt the need for a PC. Say what you want about apple but they have definitely made my life easier and I see no reason to switch back.
I don't think PC is a worse/better option, it's all about preference.

Do you even bother with simulations anymore (i.e. plugins, axe-fx, kemper, any software or hardware) or only your beast of an amp? Touchet on it by the way, the reviews are nothing but stellar

Thank you Barney, well if I'm just sitting at home noodling/practicing I switch on the Axe Fx 2 just to have a sound. Out traveling (at hotel rooms) I use the EZ-mix 2 plugin for guitar sounds. But I would say 80% of the time at home if I want to feel manly, I turn on the Satan and my Torpedo Live. Uncompromised sounds.

Hi Ola! I have a question. As a musician, do you ever get urges to cut your hair? I've had mine for about a year now, and I'm sick and tired of it! I'm going to cut it in a couple of days.

Kacperpacholak’s Profile PhotoKacper Pacholak
I do but the urge doesn't come from being a musician, it comes from the hair being in my mouth choking on it every morning. It comes from getting stuck in random objects.
But actually I keep an old picture of me reminding me how douche-baggy I look with short hair. gets rid of that urge pretty quick. And also... metal.

Hey Ola I'm a guitarist of 12 years now 21, in the last couple years I've been struggling with Right arm pain and wrist issues (idk doctors can't find anything) and now it's become a struggle for me to play really fast accurately both rhythm and lead. Any advice on how to cope with this?

HurtboxTV’s Profile PhotoHurtboxTV
Best is to either try and change the way you play or just don't force it. As soon as you feel any cramping stop immediately and take breaks. I have almost constant shoulder pain(work and guitar related injury) and it's not something you would want in life. Especially in your age. Go slow and if possible try working out more. Exercise your upper body. Stretch etc

Hi Ola! I wanna buy one of your signature guitars maybe the solar160 but i want to change the pups in it. What shoud i take into the guitar? What do you think? Im thinkin' on a blackout set or a blackwinter set. i play nu-metal,Death metal and viking metal mostly. Have a nice day:)

László Kristóf
I like both those sets! I would personally go for the black winter set, but then again blackouts are awesome and more affordable!

hOla, I want to have a nice bass guitar sound for my recordings. is there any software/plugin you could recommend, that transforms midi-signals to something like eargasms? eargreats' are fine, too

There is a software called Trillian but I would suggest you get a real bass guitar instead. It's well worth it if you're recording a lot at home.

Hey Ola. I know you're a huge endorser for Seymour Duncan, so I wanted to ask you. What's your opinion on brands like Dimarzio, Bare-knuckle, EMG, etc.?

Kacperpacholak’s Profile PhotoKacper Pacholak
That they all make good quality pickups. There is a reason why the ones you mention are recognizable names. They all make great products!
What Seymour Duncan did was to send me almost EVERY pickup they had, I found a lot of favorites and I'm using them today. They've been supporting me along my entire (new)career and I'm eternally grateful for everything they've done.
My endorsement with Seymour Duncan is not exclusive, I am free to use whatever if I want to, but haven't had any wow moments with any other companies right now. I'm perfectly happy with my current SD faves!

Hi Ola. Im thinking to change my EMG 81/85 to Seymours Black Winters. Is that a good choice? Ps. What you think about Finland?

I think that's a great switch! I love the black winters. Think of them as a extreme Duncan distortion!
And Finland is a great country, much like Sweden in a lot of ways, but whenever we meet each other in hockey I hate Finland :) but only because that's the way it's supposed to be. Sweden vs Finland games always have a lot of passion behind them.

Hey Ola, i've got one of the new Fortin designed Randall's, the RD100 head. It's a great amp, I'm currently running the Blue Channel with the Boost on and the gain just isn't quite where I'd like it. To push it more on the gain side of things, would a Maxon OD808 be a good choice?

MattMcloughlin’s Profile PhotoMatt Mcloughlin
Hey Matt, it should've plenty of gain! Try contacting the amp.support@usmusiccorp.com

I know you have that washburn deal going on but did you ever try out jacskon guitars? You have made tons of videos demoing all these other brands but I don't think i have ever heard you say anything about jackson.

I haven't tried too many, but I did try this one at a festival this past summer, although it was a bit neck heavy it played great!
